Can someone explain why this was such a dangerous situation? From a technical kayaking perspective. Wouldnt he just get shot out past the rocks?

no, hes pinned against the rock with his feet still pointing up the waterfall,so he kinda bent over double and cant really moove, with the water pushing him into the rock. pople die this way.

Yea- two main worries here; The first being the way in which the kayak was wedged; we worried it would shift deeper into the crack, pinning the paddlers face to the deck of the boat and potentially under water; The second was noir knowing where the water flows once down into the crack; often times, water will travel thru openings too small for a body to fit thru, thus getting stuck under the rocks

Yes, wedged quite well; It’s the drop that used to have a tree right in the landing before a huge slide on the Thompson river

Would have been good to see how far the boat went especially with that drop just below. Obviously person over kit anytime but I wonder if there could have been a away to do a controlled rescue of the boat maybe with another line .

Agreed. This was a bad situation. The two guys in this video are brothers. The calmness that Terry showed while being in the position that he was in is what impressed me most here.

You'd think a person trying that would realize that helmet isn't sufficient. I never really understood "the bicycle helmet". So, it protects you if your fall directly on top of your head????

Wrong helmet, seat too high, front braking(???), wrong face position on fall (always try to roll when you fall!!)
