I find it a bit fascinating how backpacking changed over the years. My first backpacking trip to Thailand lasted 4 months in 1994 as an 18-year-old guy. equipped with only a backpack cash , hardly any information, a paper map and an outdated old travel guidebook. no internet no KZbin or google translate and Thailand was really a poor 3 world country cheap beyond anything back then You met backpackers from all over the world and exchanged experiences and tips on khao san .. slept in small cheap warm fan only rooms or on beaches and you usually went into the adventure completely clueless what u will see and do Don't really know if its better now or worse...the adventure is kind of .gone..now u look at youtube plan trip search internet book online and kind of know exactly what you will see and do and have constant contact home and with friends..
