What RPM do you run it at? Also where do you see the size of the bale. Just bought an 845 looks the same but cant figure where to see the size as you are baling.
@yellowbirchfarm7794Ай бұрын
2k-2500 rpm it bales a 4x5 round bale at 2500 rpm it will bog a 75 hp tractor if your not feeding hay into it. if you get to the end of the row with 90% of a bale and let it run it will make the bale tighter and bog the tractor.

Oil all chains before you start and during. Saves chain life old used oil. Stop when it to fill mark. Save bars they break good unit

We had a 846 for years and years. Ours was a manual tie. That Auto wrap is sweet. They are a very durable baler for the most part. Of course over many years baling, things will happen. Yours has the single BIG spring that keeps pressure on the bale chamber that make the bale tight. Later they went to a dual spring set up. Ours was a single spring. I can see the adjustment is all the way out on yours. So it's set to make a bale as tight as it can. It's almost impossible to get it to plug up. However in very light, fine stem hay. Is where you might encounter a problem. It has trouble moving the hay from the pick up reel to the floor chains. The floor chain fingers seem to have a problem grabbing very fine hay. If this happens. I've found that throttling back your tractor's RPM, while increasing your ground speed ( gear or 2 higher) helps. The sear pin broken is concerning. You might want to turn it by hand. Before you put power to it. Just see if anything is binding up. Anyway, good luck with you new baler. BTW, My record in one days baling with our 846 was 114 bales. Some really good hybrid Burmuda!

We have used it on two small fields so far 14 Bales it does a great job but does not make A tight bale or as tight as I would like and yes the auto tie is amazing I have seen a few manual ties at work I see both pros and cons with a manual tie. I have noticed if I get to the end of a wind row and take enough time to get to the next row that bale will go from 75% finished to 50% finished which makes for a tighter bale and makes that 3020 work for it. it had broke the twine and me never running a round baler prior I just laid the twine across the knife and it started tying again. we had a few issues when we started as in the hydraulics has a few small leaks fixed those and the cables to unlock the rear door had to much slack so to raise the door i would have to jump off the tractor and manually release the door kinda dangerous. when we cleaned oiled and greased it just before storing for winter it was running like a sewing machine.

I have one of these..had it maybe 8yrs never had any problems..it won't bale a tight bale but it's tuff as nine inch nails

I baled 14 bales and I noticed if you stop and let it roll before tieing it packs it tighter either way it beats square bales although we do both
@briancs613Ай бұрын
Check your adjustments on the big springs on the sides. That's how to controll the tightness of the bales.

We have a 846 I like it it's a good baler. Simple to operate auto tie they like longer hay and harder to start on short hay tends to plug up. Just make sure to keep plenty oil for your chains

I can feel your pain on the 3020 I ended up hiring a old retired JD mechanic who could split mine and put in clutch and gears for me. When you get yours fixed it will be good for years.

I hope, so the cost of the repair is more then we have at the moment. I'm thinking after the first of the new year it will be fixed. The 3020 is my go to tractor

I'm going to reapply this afternoon but what a great product. I've got another video coming out in a few days on my water system I used flex seal on and it has held up fantastic. I've used flex glue on a swimming pool patch before youtube and it also did not disappoint.
