Electricity comprises about 20% of the global energy system. Renewable energy comprises about 35% of that 20% or about 7% of the total. If electrification is doubled and renewables are doubled (challenging, but doable) renewable electricity would only comprise 28% of global energy, before accounting for growth and the additive rule of Jevon's paradox. The notion that industrial civilization will simply switch energy inputs and manage to continue it's current trajectory while averting the consequences of ecological overshoot is pure magical thinking; A delusion to uphold a delusion to uphold a delusion. I think it's time we face the facts - We are all dependent upon an economic super organism that is incompatible with life on earth. To believe otherwise is to fail to understand our collective predicament, and the contradictions that define us.

|William Jacob Parsons, the North Carolina man who was arrested over threats he made to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has spoken out after being released on bond. ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Federal disaster personnel have resumed door-to-door visits as part of their hurricane-recovery work in North Carolina, an effort temporarily suspended amid threats that *prompted officials to condemn the spread of disinformation* We are a divided country. The Democrats and Republicans are at war. Nothing is more important than the truth.

Perfect analysis needing no comment except to agree that the reason nuclear is being pushed is to delay getting off fossil fuels. Sounds like a conspiracy theory but it so obvious and easy to get away with. Alternatively if you spend as much as the nuclear over the same amount of time you end up with a lot more energy and more profit.

What??? I can drive to a place with gas and bring it to my generator. I can run desiel and mine it myself from burger King. But thinking your car will charge and deplete trip after trip is just not sane thinking. We are not ready for electric first vehicles.

So you're saying that in Canada Tesla/Superchargers charge more to charge than other fast DC charging providers? In the US, it costs less to charge on Superchargers 98% of the time no matter where you are compared to other charging provider in the same local area. Many times, more than 50% cheaper depending on the time of day. Of course, to properly compare, you have to compare all with their monthly plans, OR all without that their monthly plans. But in some places in the US, charging on Superchargers are cheaper even without the Tesla plan versus the others using their plans.

let's do some math $1 billion for the solar and battery project 400 MW with 1.6GWh battery storage (so not a full 400 MW discharge throughout the night) $1.6 billion for the TMI1 with a capacity of 819 MWe Net. overall capacity factor = 77.50 % $16 billion for twice as mucht so 800 MW i assume, unless they are talking about Vogtle 3 and 4. they are 1117 MWe The solar project will generate power with a capacity factor of about 19% (solar atlas). So the 400 MW will be "equal" to 76MW of continuous power or in other words 665 GWh/year The TMI project will be "equal" to 635 MW or in other words will generate 5 560 GWh/year For the Vogtle plant, the US is operating their NPP's with capacity factors in the 90 percentile. so the Vogtle 3 reactor will be "equal" to 1005 MW or in other words will generate 8 800 GWh/year So in conclusion to build a solar project equal to that of Vogtle you will need 13 times the size of the solar installed. (8 800 / 665 = 13). To put it into money, this equates to about $13 billion. Solar, wind, nuclear, hydro, geotherma, etc.. are great clean sources. Let's not fight eachother, but unite and make the future great.

Australias extra power should be popping up low cost gravity batteries. Find the closest unused mountain, run numerous tracks that have giant concrete blocks on them, use extra solar power to run them up to top of mountain, regen braking for the trip back down when the power is needed. Just need to build it cheap .

Thanks for talking about heavy duty commercial batteries. Everyone talks about BEVs but less so for other applications. Where I live, grass mowing is a major activity. Summer days are filled with the sound of gas powered mowers. A first, a local grass maintenance company has converted to batteries. At a larger scale, I am waiting for a battery powered Cat D5.

I'll repost, then: GM making me pay for the adapter means that my next EV purchase is far less likely to be a GM car. We love our Bolt, but this greedy move plus no CarPlay in newer Chevy cars is too many enshittified decisions. Thanks for speaking up for the customer!
@CleanEnergyShowАй бұрын
UPDATE: GM had originally told Tom (State of Charge) all Bolt EVs and EUVs would need the update to be Supercharger compatible. However, they just reached out to tell me that was incorrect. Only 2019 and some 2020 Bolts EV and EUVs will need the update. They told me they advise customers to contact their dealer, and they will tell them if they need the update.

Carbon tax isn't a tax? well what is it because it has not effected Co2 levels fortunately because we all know the world needs Co2 to grow food & we need oil for plastics, aircraft, shipping & reliable generation of electricity. These 2 green idiots must still be living in mommy's basement & cycling to Starbucks each day for coffee & to pick up their welfare checks.
