9-10" wide board, 17-20" wheelbase, 65-70mm 77-80A wheels is the sweet spot recipe for falling in love with the asphalt pump track.

Right now I’m at 8.5 wide board, 52mm wheels and 8.0 inch truck. How does a 9-10 board feel??
@hydroplainsdrifter21 күн бұрын
@@onichama9279 You appreciate the width and especially the longer wheelbase when you get really moving. I street skate 8.25" 52mm but my pump track board is a 9.625", 19.25" wheel base longboard, 8.75 Indy's, 3/8" risers, 69mm 78A slalom wheels and it's so smooth and fast it can get scary, like speed wobbles if you don't tighten up the back truck fast. I spent a lot of time (and wasted way too much money) trying to figure out the golden ticket. Riding street wheels on a pump track was more like a job than fun but the right setup is like flying on a hoverboard. Hope you can catch a ride on a setup like that to check it out, it's amazing.

We've all got different problems and different solutions for those problems. Your solutions definitely seemed to help you out for sure. I had several months without skating (cruising yes but no trick sessions) before the turn of the year and when I returned I setup a 14.5 wheel base deck on regular Ace AF1s. I would have liked to say it worked for me but it really didn't. I'm a tall dude yet it had been a while since I was on anything longer than 14.25 and Ventures. So stepping up to 14.5 I figured the Aces would help with retaining the timing because of their shorter wheel base. I had over 10 sessions on the setup and was starting to not enjoy my skating because firstly I felt squirly on the Aces and secondly I felt as if my tricks weren't levelling out very well even if I was really trying to. I switched to some Venture V-Hollows and everything instantly changed. I don't know if it was the better stability with Ventures, the lighter truck, the elongated true wheel base or the slightly lower truck but whatever it was really helped. Back to levelling out and with a better feeling and higher pop. I dare say my pop timing and height feels better than it did on 14.25 wheel bases and definitely better than 14 ones. I just think my body works better with a longer wheel base. Maybe your's does too? There are 7.75s out there with 14.25 or more wheel bases if you want to try that. Though I don't want to give you any setup madness!
@RikRiorik3 ай бұрын
Toy Machine + Venture gang reporting for duty! Is that the 7.75 deck you’re riding? I’m on an 8.5 with 14.5 wheel base and the V-Hollows I’m riding just make the setup feel super to me. Sorry to hear about your brother ❤.
