@trashpanda1999 nope, those were indeed Exterior Screws. The guy had been Mickey mousing this deck for years. My instructions were to do the absolute minimum. Yes, this deck doesn’t have much longer but the owner doesn’t either, so there are his priorities

Zinc coated is for outside(shiny goldish), epoxy coated screws are exterior, black oxide or untreated is for interior.

Brazing, an outdated welding method that for some freak reason I excel at (God’s credit, not mine). Grandpa never explained those when he taught me to braze when I was 12. I imagine they must be rod holders with the hole at the end? Undoubtedly pliers are often needed for rough shaping etc as you go along.

OMG we had the same issue with my father-in-law. It took us 3 months to just clean out his 2 car garage and 12 ft shed. I feel your pain. We had 2 dumpsters delivered to haul away trash…wood, foam, carpeting, metal, empty cleaning containers, broken chairs, broken desks, mildewed books, magazines, and trash. We had to make 4 trips to drop off chemicals at the county waste disposal site.

I couldn’t even get him to clean his room! I helped him bring most of the really old stuff in when we were young and I know all of his kits and goodies. The old German wasn’t really a talker but between his cancer and Moms dementia I used to try to draw him out to distract him and I’d get some gems.

Yes I feel for you. I'm kind of a hoarder myself so I can understand the logic that goes along with that. And that happens a lot when a couple goes they don't want to be alone without their life partner. Best of luck to you and stay strong

Others agree its a saw horse bracket. (Or a Renaissance era torture device.) The 2nd item looks like a meat grinder--or something similar like a pasta* maker--discharge die. Just a socket fit, probably w/ a threaded retention collar. *I'm not sure if it's pasta, present or future.

Looks like a sawhorse bracket. There should be two of them. That one looks narrower than most, like it's for use with 1x4's instead of 2x4's, like most are today. Edit: I just googled the patent no 1953012 and it shows it to be a sawhorse bracket.

Thank you. I imagine you insert the oil into the closable hole as needed. That explains the flow circuit. Now I feel even stupider because it’s so simple now that I know.
