Holy crap. That is moving. I saw angus sailing his with an autopilot. Think that’s a great idea. And your hobie system looks like another great idea.

I have the same Raymarine ST1000 autopilot, it's a total game changer for solo sailing. I can cook, make coffee, and adjust/fix stuff, all while continuing to sail.

Nice! Did you build this boat? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the view. I didn't build the boat but purchased it this spring from the second owner. It was originally built by a boat builder from the Port Townsend Wooden Boat School. It's a beautiful design and the craftsmanship of the builders attention to detail can't be missed. If you want to learn more about the boat you can visit the boat designers website, there are two versions including a non-sailing kit and a sailing kit. This has an upgraded sail system from what is called for in the original design. angusrowboats.com/pages/sailing-rowcruiser

You are giving me ideas. I live on a river (house 50 feet off of river) with some rapids around the corner from the house. Also own a paddle board, I will have to try this out. Thanks for the idea.

Rob Bean Yeah, really excited to see you pioneering this wave. Would be interesting to see what it looks like at higher flows. Keep it up!

Rob, Glad to see you were out giving stand up a go at the USNWC. I just wanted to let you know that we teach ww SUP lessons. Our staff are some of the best around, feel free to call or come by to chat more. I already have a few tips that can help you out from watching the video. Hope to see you this season.

Hey, thanks for the comment Trey. I had an absolute blast at the USNWC! I have actually been there a couple of times now when I'm in town for business and look forward to another visit. I got that SUP back at the end of 2012 and it's been all over, even down to some surfing in Mexico with similar results as you saw in the video :). The day I SUP'd at your place was my first time on real whitewater and I would have definitely taken you up on a class, I was totally winging it but was doing pretty well by the end of the day. I think if I had kept a normal flat-water stance I probably would have been a bit more stable but that will be something to try on my next trip. I may be out in the summer and I'll reach back out for sure. Any quick advice based on what you saw would be appreciated, I live in Colorado and plan on doing some paddling down in Salida this summer. We have a tone of WW SUP out here.

Hi, I just saw your comment tonight, 7-months later of course :) Thanks for the note it was a great trip, very hard, but very rewarding. We have also raised another $6,000 for our Heifer International project and are so thankful for those who have supported us along the way with well wishes and good vibes. Were you guys coming down stream on the Colorado? We saw a few groups but it was a pretty lonely stretch of water heading upstream. Thanks again for the note.
