Phoenix precision paints have bought the old ian kirk coach moldings. They are hoping to bring them back into production soon. Does anyone know if the coaches are a close representation of the East Anglian. I've seen BTO, FO, TO and restaurant car on their website. They are not the same diagram no's but I'm wondering if they are a good substitute. Less than half the price of Isinglass models ones.

I spent many happy afternoons nattering with Ken while we ran trains. I received a steam railmotor in the post and took it to Ken's to give it a run something was loose in the passenger area. Ken was delighted with the model and wanted to show it to a friend so I said I leave here and pick it up next time. Ken kindly refixed some loose seats and passengers before I rerturned. One of life's gentlemen.

Have you seen Sam's Trains review? He points out the lack of any wheel bearings and the very flimsy plastic running plate which is not good enough for a loco priced at over £200. His was a supplied by a retailer, perhaps yours was a special direct from the manufacturer?

Wow Greg that is astonishing! I spent 30 years modelling High Wycombe Station set in1950 but it was nowhere near this level. The realism is beautiful. I can almost smell those acrid addictive metal foundry fumes!

Excellent video - I think you got the balance just right between explaining the history of the loco, reviewing the model and running shots.

Great video! I'd no idea that this locomotive existed until now. Thought it was just A4's and P2's.

These are really very good. The standard of out-of-the-box models has increased so much in recent years and I’m glad Hornby are keeping up in the race.

Hi hand good morning Tony and an another great review. I purchased a kit about 10 years ago of eBay not sure of the company that made it I converted a tender drive B17 I Backhand the valve gear got the name and transfers from fox transfers you needed to do a lot of work on the loco and tender bodies but on completion it looks ok in apple green east angler colours but looking at the new Hornby one which looks fantastic? Mark would I Purchase one many thanks Colin.

What does B17/5 stand for? It seems not to be related to any number of wheels as I'm used to with English engines.
@CRB71319 күн бұрын
"B" class LNER locomotives are 4-6-0, as here, and the /# were for in-class variations. With the B17s that was largely boilering changes up to B17/4, and /5 was simply these two with the streamlining added :)
@Gaddnbohner18 күн бұрын
@CRB713 Thanks so far. So letter B doesn't have a special meaning as a German Pt or G would have had?
@CRB71318 күн бұрын
@@Gaddnbohner I don't know to comment re the German system, but yes, the only meaning is the wheel configuration
@edwardwilson497418 күн бұрын
It’s just the railway company’s class designation. Has nothing to do with wheel arrangement.

Incredible model. Coming from South Africa and being somewhat of a Garrett fanboy, this is something I am very keen to get my hands on. The price point is quite steep though! 😅 regardless, your test may have just tipped me over the fence in favour of getting it. Thank you for the wonderful video 😊

Thanks for these tips. You’ve given me some ideas. I’ve always thought that Metcalfe kits were 2D looking and not varied enough in their architectural style. It’s nice to see that some of those drawbacks are relatively easy to fix.

one year late to the party but today you can buy an entire set of scribbing tools for 1.99 on amazon/ebay etc as the nail artists use them so they are called DOTTING TOOLS they come in sets of 12 that give you all size ball ends, cheap as chips

NZR had two classes of oil-fired locomotives right up to the end of steam in 1967. Some were built by North British, The Ja/Jb 4-8-2’s and the Ka 4-8-4’s. These were only in the North Island. The six Kb’s and all the J class in the South Island were coal fired. Several heritage locomotives permitted to run on the present KiwiRail system are still oil-fired.
