Love the direction you went with the answer, that that leader is being looked at for how they handle it. #LeadAnyway

Great speech delivery, David! I loved how you pointed each step and I am able to visualize the situation. Great story telling

I was going to add to listen to the AV tech because they manage presentations daily and will inevitably get blamed for any issues that come up, but sadly there are some inept technicians out there that don't or can't anticipate all potential points of failure. So yes, get there early and know your gear and have your own checklist.

What an inspiring hopeful message for newly diagnosed clients! I remember getting a phone call from Jeff in May 2010 that he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. A shocking moment when all the unknowns hit you in your heart and head! As his mom this 13 year journey has been filled with a lot of uncertainty and a lot of hope! Because of the incredible support coming from so many directions, science and research and the Multiple Myeloma foundation, his Dr. Seema Singhal and the Lurie Cancer Center in Chicago, I always felt Jeff was in good hands! When he had his ongoing lab work following his progress towards remission I would get a text, sometimes close to remission but not enough until this January when he received the CAR-T treatment. This time he made it into remission! What wonderful news! What a wonderful 63rd birthday on June 3, 2023.

Good advice when I’m getting ready to head out tonight and compete in the CrossFit quarter finals workouts. I will meet my limits for sure. Especially when those time caps kick in. And with some of the movements that are beyond my limits. Like bar muscle ups and strict handstand push ups. My brain and heart say please but my body says, not today lady

Couldn't agree more, David. Being clear and calm changes the energy of the interaction and puts the listener at ease (even if they don't like what you have to tell them).

“Great reminder, Mr. Goad. In the beginning of my speaking career, I would practice my speeches for time. However, I used to always finish the actual presentation MUCH faster than planned because I was speaking SO quickly. Keep those Tips coming, please!”

David, Since I have been doing presentations for well over 20 years, was an emcee at a charity event I was founder of in front of 3500+ people I am not sure I have had camera fear for a long time. However this type of suggestion could take me from a 8 or 9 to a ten! Thank you!

David, Some of these item often are forgotten and presenters don't know there audiences! When I started out, I was trained to use the 6x4 rule for slides (six words and four lines or reverse) now it's so common to put up something that is an "eye chart" and often these are slides from the companies I have worked for. Thanks for sharing this and looking forward to your next episode!

Here because of Angela! Hello from a fellow-introvert! Technically I am a millennial - and thoroughly enjoyed this video and each of your clean shirts. :D One thing I struggle with is being comfortable living on both sides of the -vert- fence, so to speak. At heart, a total introvert. I could spend forever by myself, however, one thing that pulls me out of it IS the rejuvenation part where I get to experience human connections and little moments. So when I cross over to embrace a more extroverted role - the truth telling part sometimes isn't received so well. Always takes a little hit to the confidence. How would you suggest dealing with that?
@DavidGoadSpeaks4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that question Danielle! If I read between the lines, I'm assuming that you may be offering unsolicited advice when you come out of your shell. In other words, your truth may be true and valuable but not necessarily welcome. Make it a practice to ask before sharing. Something simple like, "I have an idea that may be helpful. Would you like to hear it?" Most will respond with a yes to this question and it gives you permission to go ahead and lay it out. Does that help?

Nice first episode! What equipment are you using?
@DavidGoadSpeaks4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rich! I train folks to do self-produced video, so I keep it simple. This is recorded using Zoom, laptop camera, external USB mic($50), 2 LED ring lights ($60) on my face and a portable green screen ($100). I designed the "David Goad Show" image in Powerpoint and snipped it from show mode. Anyone can do this.

I love the part where you say don't have dead air during the first part of the meeting as people are joining. I want to say to these virtual hosts would you walk into a physical conference room and sit down and not say hello to anyone in the room? Then why do it in the virtual conference you silly I want to say. :) Great speech! Awesome info!
