Sick - I ordered a V2 the other day when they had a couple up. I should likely see mine arrive tomorrow or the day after. Looking forward to this one, sounds absolutely crushing.

Man, this is inspiring. I’ve been meaning to ask you-over months of lurking replays-how much you dig the Earthling. I’ve watched your heavy “straight in” demos multiple times. And the cleans on this video are blowing my mind. Like so many others, I’ve been going back and forth on an Earthling and a Matamp. I was leaning toward Matamp for the longest time for all the usual reasons. Iconic sound and heritage, etc. Relatively quick turnaround. And the exchange rate actually made them cheaper than Science. But your videos are making me wonder if Science is the true way…

I dig the Earthling quite a bit. I also went back and forth between Science vs Matamp. I have not played a Matamp so I can't directly comment on them compared to the Earthling, but from what I've heard from demos and recordings, the current Matamps can't get nearly as clean as the Earthling. I went for the 200 Watt KT88 version for maximum clean headroom as well. The Earthling is based on the 1970's Matamp GT120 which is not the same beast as current day Matamp GT amplifiers from my understanding. I would highly consider reaching out to Alex @ Science Amplification to discuss your tonal needs and he can probably provide more insight. If the Earthling would not be the best fit for you needs, he will definitely let you know. If you want to hear the Earthling in a specific context, let me know and I can try to record something to help assist you as well. @@DirtyDemos Thanks, man! Did you get the two-channel version? I hadn’t previously considered 200 watts to be appropriate for someone of my interests-I previously swapped messages with Alex about a 50-watt build-but your cleans are clear as mountain water. Alex also said the master volume permits heavy tones even at low volumes, which is reassuring. I’m assuming that the low frequency knob also allows it to do Matamp-style dirty cleans? Anyway, I dig your stuff. I’m also a huge Blackhawk fan and like seeing his stuff in use. It gives me ideas for my own collection.

@@jdizzlies yeah the Earthling can get loud as heck, but the master volume lets you basically dial in what would be sort of equivalent to Matamp non-master volume GT120 tones at lower volumes. The LFV and HFV increase the perceived gain so dialing them higher will seemingly make the cleans dirtier.

I had the same guitar and silverburst but my pickups were swapped for a JB and some other SD neck pickup that’s not very common at all. Loved the guitar but didn’t get used nearly as much as my other baritones. I got it for $400 and needed the money and sold for $750 so don’t feel as bad about getting rid of it 😂 Cool video btw! Great demo here. I hate it when an entire demo is done without tweaking the knobs or various features on an amp. This really shows off the range of the controls and what tones you can get. Useful for anyone considering this amp. Bonus points for no cringy thumbnail too.
