Old school wise: Midori Ito takes the cake, for modern skaters: Aliona Kostornaia, but Midori’s is still the best

I think the thing that puts sasha's quads above these is her doing it with both hands over her head; really makes it look that much better

Rippons are best in moderation, and I'm glad that Sasha would mix it up. But some skaters really overuse them.

Why is a 12 year old Novice competing quads at this rate lmao
@fs.delight Жыл бұрын
The answer is pretty simple: competition. It sounds crazy, but there are so many talented Russian girls, including in the 11-13 age range, that a skater like Margarita literally needs a multi-quad program to win events.

Thirteen junior Russian Skaters showed their supremacy in quads jumps , all with top clean landings, very good heights. Glory to Russia for its excellency in artistry, accuracy and beauty of its skaters. Now that Korea has good skaters, ISU should give them the opportunity to compete against excellent Russian and Chinese young skaters who were not given the chance to compete because of ridiculous politics.

Veronika's quads are the best technically. At least imo.
@Kiridiam Жыл бұрын
However nika’s landings are VERY often shaky, leaving a bad impression on the judges giving it less GOE than it could be. This is unlike a skater like Valieva who’s landings flow and position is very nice even despite the takeoff technique.

I knew Trusova’s 4F from 2022 Euros was gonna be on this list and it’s infuriating, it had an outside edge and thus should’ve received negative GOE.
@fs.delight Жыл бұрын
I'd say unclear edge, not outside edge, but either way, you'll have to take it up with the tech panel, as these lists are based on actual scores, not my personal opinions. (And, scoring aside, it's still a fantastic jump if you're able to get over the edge.)
@produccionestouchsky Жыл бұрын
@@fs.delight I know this is based on legit scores, in fact, I wouldn't mind at all if it was a personal opinion, because the jump does look pretty as you say. What angers me is that you have these experts, who are paid to assess these jumps and this poorly executed Flip ends up being the highest scoring jump in women's figure skating history. That's just not right. Sorry if it seemed I was angry with you, I know this is just a compilation.
@fs.delight Жыл бұрын
I totally understand. On one hand, you'd hope that in one of the most important competitions in this Olympic cycle, at which you presumably have some of the best tech panelists in the sport, you'd see calls like this made. On the other hand, you look at how many skaters, on mere triples, show the same edge issues, who don't get calls, and you can understand why Sasha isn't treated any differently. (It's just that this jump gets more attention because of the huge score, of course.) I'm optimistic, though. I think it's just a matter of time before we see computer vision aiding or replacing tech panels, which will result in the sport being called much more rigorously and consistently. And, like I said, for me personally, there are so many other great things about this jump, that I'm at peace with it being ranked so high. (Although, again, as you noted, these rankings aren't at all my own opinion.)

Surprised there wasn't an honorable mention for Tonya's 3A at the 91 Worlds. Lots of speed going into the jump, and a much more controlled landing than at 91 SA.

@fs.delight Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Japan seems to have made a push to have more of its top young skaters learn 3As. However, it seems like this push might have stalled a bit more recently; I worry that the lack of competition from Russians has led to them being a little complacent. In any case, Hanna Yoshida in particular has one of my favorite 3As right now, and I hope we see a lot of it this season. 😊

Excellent video! Aliona's 3A wonderful as always. Just curious: what's Wakaba's # of attemps and PoM? I somehow expected her to end up on this list
@fs.delight Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Good question on Wakaba. She's had 16 attempts with a PoM of 54.7%. So she fell right under the cutoff, and would have placed near the bottom even if she hadn't. But maybe that will change this season with her return to competition? I hope I have reason to include her next time around. 🙏🏼
@Kiridiam Жыл бұрын
Liza’s 3A itself is one of the worst of everyone in this video despite her consistency, I know everyone praises her but her axel pattern is too curved. If she jumped in a straight direction like Akatieva, her 3A would certainly be underrotated.

Yeah, I think there are few things more valuable then womens discipline than having a consistent 3A that stays with you into adulthood. I'm pretty sure Liza herself has more or less said that she'd be toast without her 3A.

FS feels like a sport with the open ended scoring than the old one which felt like a popularity contest than an actual sport. Skaters are finally given the a credit where it's due. It's a damn shame Midori and Tonya didn't get the marks they rightfully deserved by landing the 3A.

Totally agree. I wish Midori and Tony had gotten the chance to compete in this era, or at least under these rules.
