I kinda wonder if the girls were originally making the cranes to help save their mom because at the end it showed that she had died most likely from the same disease the girls have then showed their father leaving them with his mother, so I wonder if originally the girls were trying to make 1000 to save their mom because they have a whole bunch at the start and it didn’t look like they had been living with their grandmother for two long :(
