I still prefer the art in old modules like this. Just look at Grimbold 5:15 as an example. He's moody, appropriate to the setting and allows imagination to flourish about his personality & demeanor. Too often these days the art is over-stylished; anime, gaudy colours. Thats really genre-breaking for me.

Those look great! I would be inclined to just go over them with glossy Mod Podge, and leave it at that. Glop sticking above the surface.

The brand of silicone might make a big difference. You may just need to try a different brand of ingredient. Professor DungeonMaster used DAP Clear Silicone to make sewer tiles here kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppaTe5J8bKhrbdk I noticed that some DAP silicone is 100% silicone. In theory you could use PVA glue if you could: 1. Stop it from running away and 2. Get it to dry. The water in the glue is what makes it look milky. You might achieve the drying by putting it in the sun on a sunny day or in the oven.

Hot glue wouldn't dry clear but maybe you'll have a nice texture to paint over if you apply just a bit of it and then add the debris - to get any texture from hot glue, after it's mostly set, I'll run with the hot glue gun tip over it and do a few passes
