Do you have or know where to find digital copies of the aeronautical experience charts you have such as the one at 7:53?

Folks, I did ONE BETTER and reached out to Russ and got some 1:1 mentoring before my CFI Checkride. He fit me into his schedule, and we spent several HOURS on a couple of video calls. As a result of his mentoring, not only did I pass first-time, but my CFI Oral exam delivery was SuperSmooth. Notable enough that the DPE commented about how well-prepared I was. THANK YOU THANK YOU for helping me in real life. If you too, wanna be SuperSmooth, consider reaching out to a really nice guy in the aviation world.

Thank you for the video! I’m an older person about to retire from a profession. Flying as a hobby since 2010 has inspired me to try to be a CFI as a retirement gig. What a joy it is to fly. I’ve passed everything up through commercial. The CFI check is the one that scares me most.

Something about surveying interests me. I have a very "get bored quick" personality, blessing and a curse i guess lol. This seems like it's hectic enough to keep me entertained while I aim for that magic number of 1500. Can't wait
@mycfiacademy33275 ай бұрын
Sean really enjoyed doing it, he is now an FO at a major airline. One thing he felt was it made him a much better pilot. Good luck with your aviation future and thanks for commenting!

Awesome video as always so I’ve got a question about logging flight hours for aspiring pilots. If someone is not a Certified Flight Instructor but acts as a safety pilot alongside another pilot, both holding at least a Private Pilot License (PPL), can they log those hours towards the 1,500 hours required by airlines? If so, how many hours do airlines typically accept, and is it a confusing process to navigate? I’ve heard differing opinions on this and would love to hear your insights or experiences on the matter. Thanks in advance for your input!
@mycfiacademy33277 ай бұрын
If you are both commercial pilots you can log that time if the pilot flying is wearing a view limiting device. As a private only the pilot at the controls can log the time. Airlines are looking for 25 hrs multi. You will get the other 25 needed during training. You will need1500 hours to fly for the airlines unless you have an aviation degree which allows for 1250. I would suggest starting to apply with 1000 hours if you are working a CFI or other job building time. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

I am instructing part time, I do help people with mock orals for CFI on zoom and yes, there will be new content pretty soon. I have been flying jets and in flux with my location making it difficult to produce new content. I sincerely appreciate you commenting and asking!

I am a commercial pilot with 600 hours. Although I’m 61 years old and thinking of becoming a CFI. After seeing this video and learning all the information needed, it looks like it’s more work that it’s actually going to be worth it. The challenge here is to be able to absorb most of that stuff and truly to do it with self study. Can’t use close enough for government work here.

Question 2: What are the sources for your meat or content in page 2 of your lesson plan? Airplane flying Handbook? PHAK? Jeppesen Textbook? Thoughts please...
@mycfiacademy3327 Жыл бұрын
As previously mentioned I mainly use the airplane flying handbook as well as the PHAK since that is how the FAA likes things. That said, you can use anything you want. Let me know how it goes.
@badgerfishinski6857 Жыл бұрын
There are many topics you can cover for each lesson plan. Question 1: What is your source for determining the topic of the lesson plan? Syllabus? ACS? Can I build a lesson plan based on the outline of the ACS? but we teach from a syllabus, so perhaps building lesson plan topics should be based on the syllabus? Please assist on determining how to build the framework. I know I can build a plan for a topic, but I am struggling with how to choose each topic, and when do I know I am finished building the complete library of lesson plans? Please don't tell me "oh.. u should know that"....or "ask your CFI". I am throwing this question out to this youtube channel for resolution and thoughts. Thank you in advance.
@mycfiacademy3327 Жыл бұрын
I would never say ask your CFI if you ask me a question Sorry for the delay I’ve been in 737 training, I recommend using the ACS as your guide as well as the airplane flying handbook. Don’t hesitate to use what the FAA gives you!

CFI candidates, remember: when you’re going over “dry” or “boring” materials or doing lap after lap in the pattern, you’re helping someone learn how to access the miracle of flight! We were born in a time in history that it’s even possible. We have the financial means to even do it. It is AMAZING to even get off the ground and if it ever feels less than that, please please hit your mental reset button and rekindle your love of flying. Good luck out there!

Great video! I am an Elementary teacher and am retiring soon. I am working towards my Commercial at present, but thinking ahead. I have been told that since I have a teaching credential I don't need the FOI class. This worries me as I am still required to know the info (I've taught Kinder through College) and present it in the FAA style. What do you recommend?

@mycfiacademy33272 жыл бұрын
You can buy prefab lesson plans BUT I highly suggest editing them to be the way you feel they should reflect you as an instructor. Also, for maneuver lesson plans, use the airplane flying handbook as an outline.

I have put together a whole mnemonic sentence that correlates many of those hard to remember acronyms to where all the items become easy to recall; you don't have to remember any separate, completely unrelated acronyms... It's great for preflight actions and/or checkride preparation because, it pretty much covers everything in one long breath. If you utter this sentence to an examiner and explain the each item he'll not be able to ask you anything else about them because you will have already explained it. But because it is new and different and stands defiantly in the face of the law of primacy, not many will accept it. But I will use it exclusively for my students so they don't have to recall separate, hard to remember acronyms.

How about the Law of Decrepitude? That's about where I am now. I'm almost 67 years old, been flying 53 years, retired airline, now flying corporate, and am attempting to add a M.E.I. rating to my 41-year-old (barely used in thirty years) CFII. I must have been out of my mind when I had this fantasy...

Do a lot of DPEs go over FOI if you come into the checkride with your AGI?

Yes. Just because you have an AGI you are not exempt. I know many DPEs that will absolutely go over FOIs when you have an AGI. Sorry for the delay currently in airline training 😎

For the CFI checkride, do I have to do a ground with my instructor on everything in the PTS? I only did a few and my instructor thinks I’m ready for my checkride
@mycfiacademy33273 жыл бұрын
You are required to have a sign off for the FOI ground completed as an endorsement in your log book. This is different from taking the written exam. The best way to know if you are ready is to do a solid mock oral with an instructor. Most CFI Candidates struggle with the FOIs, but you still want to cover a good random sampling of what you may be asked. If you would like to chat privately message me at my facebook, I can get more indepth there for you Hunter facebook.com/mycfiacademy

Hi Chris I realize this is a stupid amount of time for a response but between my schedule and Sean’s plus failing text messages it took this long but here is his response… “Yeah definitely! Most hotels have gyms that I would use and then I also had the planet fitness black card so I could work out pretty much anywhere. Food was always hit or miss but you generally have access to grocery stores!” Hope it helps!
