Almost forgot to leave some of my favourite wild camp spots in Scotland. Gruinard beach, Achnahaird beach, Oldshormore beach, Dunnet beach, the Cairngorms,...

I’m tempted to take my son to St Marys Loch for a nights camp. Are there any permits required? is there a danger of being moved on by rangers etc?
@terencebrown67182 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, I don't believe permits are required, however always worth looking online. Most places in Scotland are still covered under the "rights to roam". I didn't see many folks about, though that will vary depending on time of year, weather etc.

Just down in the Harthope valley. Not too far a walk in. Depends on the time of day, as its so close to the cheviot it's hit and miss. As always the key is arrive late leave early. ATB TB

Hi Terence, Cheers, I have wild camped all over the Yorkshire Dales, I live just at the bottom of Wensleydale but keep meaning to stretch my wings into Cumbria & Ive made myself a promise to do in the New Year, Liked the video of Great Shunner you did, been up there many times, one for you if you like that sort is Mallerstang Edge & across onto Wild boar Fell, you never know may bump into you at some point out on the path. St Mary's Loch certainly is a beautiful place. Went there in summer, was great. Nice compact tent, not sure my knees could cope with the kneeling tho
@terencebrown67184 жыл бұрын
It is indeed a beautiful place, I will definitely go back in the summer. Considering maybe doing the southern uplands way which goes alongside it. The Gossamer is very compact, looking for something I can sit up in for the colder months. Though being such low profile is great in higher winds. Atb TB

Keeping positive despite the adverse weather with a wild camp. The dark moss Gossamer blends in well with the surroundings. Nice one Terence. You have now been to my suggestive wild camp place of interest - Small Water above Haweswater Atb Chris

Good camp Terence. You didn't always need good weather to have a good camp lol. I have camped at Small Water and it was great. Really enjoyed watching. Thanks Steve.

Enjoyed watching. I can't believe you had the place to yourself in such good weather. Can only assume that you did some extensive video editing to imply a solo existence. The JW Gossamer 1 makes another appearance. Didn't see any streams so just wondering if you carried water all the way from the car park to the summit. ATB Chris
@terencebrown67184 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, thanks again for the comment. I purposefully went very late in the afternoon in order to avoid the crowds. Was an awesome trip and the weather added to it by allowing such epic views. The tent will continue to have a starring role especially in weather like that. Thanks TB.

A gem of a place on the eastern side of the lakes. No shortage of water! The Coast to Coast trail passes on the return route down to Haweswster. How did the Jack Wolfskin Gossamer 1 tent perform in the wind?
@terencebrown67184 жыл бұрын
An absolute gem indeed. I hope to get on the Coast to Coast soon, shouldve been this year but due to the obvious restrictions it never happened. The Gossamer has never let me down yet with the wind, being quite low profile. Though I will be looking for something else for the colder months as it is nice to able to sit in the tent lol. Thanks for the comment. TB

@@terencebrown6718 I've recently acquired a Gossamer 1 with the intention of using for solo stealth over nighters. Only issue I have with it is that there is no porch for cooking in adverse weather. Gaz at Gaziano Outdoors has recently upgraded from Gosssmer 1 to Gossamer 2 with large end porch space which is non existant in the Gossamer 1. I'm just interested to know how you manage with cooking and gear storage when the weather turns foul. ATB Chris
@terencebrown67184 жыл бұрын
Gear storage wise I place my pack at the head end and use it as a pillow. Cooking is the main issue. However I mainly utilise dehydrated food/boil in the bag type meals so can have the stove outside whilst in cover. I'm out this weekend so will include some of that info in the video so you can see what I mean if that would help? TB
@cclow94944 жыл бұрын
@@terencebrown6718 I've subscribed to your channel so will look forward to your next video and the antics of camping in a Gossamer 1. I'm seriously considering grabbing a Robens Arrow Head tent in the sales at back end of the year. Weight & pack size close to the Gosammer 1. Pole sleeves (not flimsy clips) and sloping tunnel design attracted me to the Gossamer. The Arrow Head is same but includes side entrance and porch for cooking and storage. The winning feature is pole sleeves on the outer so can erect inner and outer together in adverse weather. No velcro pole attachments on the fly - hurray!. The Gossamer wins on material spec and water resistance. Enjoy your next weekend camp - expect rain! CC

@@cclow9494 I have my eyes on the starlight 1 possibly 2. I pitch the Gossamer in one. I have no problems with at all other than cooking outside and unable to sit up in it. Robens tents look amazing and can't wait to test out whichever I purchase. TB
