If you work for fdc as a correctional officer you have to watch out for fellow officers trying to talk bad about you all the time. Then if your captain don’t like you it’s done you will always be dogged out and treated like crap

Mobile device laws exist because looking down takes your eyes off the road. This is a condition you and other professional drivers agreed to when accepting employment. So, accept it or shut up. I don't want truckers driving behind me looking down even if they claim it was only 4 seconds. At 60 mph, that's 360 feet, but I bet you're underestimating the time. Everyone says the light was yellow. That's like the dog ate the homework excuse.

Good to know about the female officers. Im thinking of getting into corrections but ive been wondering how it goes. Judging from your sexist comment, there seems to be resentment towards women. Comments from female CO's indicates they work just as hard and face harrassment from both inmates and male co-workers. Same old story.

They can pay you however they want. There's no requirement for overtime pay as trucking is exempt from US Labor Laws. I just left trucking over a year ago cause it's gotten so bad. And by bad I'm meaning a multitude of things like: extended downtime for services & repairs vs before COVID, expenses like food is preposterous at the truckstops along with good sit-down restaurants being replaced with fast food, and mostly because theres an ongoing issue with the fact there's more trucks out there than there are freight. I left and went into armed security and about to go back corrections even though I told myself I'd never again go back to corrections. Close to 20yrs since the last time I was a corrections officer and I was a trucker of 15yrs.
@R.O.T.C._SEEM3 ай бұрын
It really does suck out here. The local jobs pay more than the otr ones. The fact that our work history can be used against us is also a terrible thing. We get lied to about the pay and the miles but if we decide to bail and go elsewhere we get blackballed and labeled, job hoppers. If you were involved in an accident that wasn't even your fault, it's still gonna count against you for the next 3 years. This career is so regulated but nothing benefits the actual driver. Why they don't regulate the pay?
@t2dwarrior2093 ай бұрын
@@R.O.T.C._SEEM trucking is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards and therefore no pay regulations. The big trucking companies pay these politicians and law makers enough to keep it that way.

I'm about to start with the FDC in Ocala, FL. Not fond of going back i to corrections though. Its just the economy is terrible which directly affects my ability to make money in trucking. I left corrections over 16yrs ago for trucking and find myself going back in. My first corrections job was at Georgia State Prison which is maximum security. Responded to a fight in dorm next to mine but was actually a stabbing. Still worked there another 2+ years till i moved to Kentucky and worked at a minimum security facility. Much different there. Didnt have to use force or beak up fights at all there. Oh, and if you work lockdown dorms then expect to eventually have feces and urine thrown on you at some point.

@thomasryan26797 ай бұрын
Brad's "crazy life"? Your pride is with "crazy" compared to intelligent, loyal, or admired? Instead of stating accomplishments like schools, military, or career, you have an undesirable job and are proud of the word crazy. Jail guards repeat "actually" a lot. "Uh, um, um, ah, and you know" display ignorance and a restricted vocabulary. Jails hire anyone with a pulse. It's time to join a gym.

Before I traded a driving career in petroleum for a career in a steel mill making more money with a great union, I'd just use that Lytx as a hat rack sometimes. Never counted on any bonus either. If they didn't like it, I knew how to damage the engine, clutch and spin bearings in a transmission as my thank you on the way back to the yard dumping the clutch in 6th gear after coasting up to 40 mph, or shearing the output shaft. I might be the reason they're all automatics now. 😆

While I would never drive for a nanny company, to be fair to them, you signed up with them. They have rules/procedures, it's their name on the door, they sign the front of the check.... you do what you're told or face their consequences. Personally, I have 10 years until retirement.... thinking about trading my truck for a forklift in a warehouse. Less pay, but far less risk/responsibility, regular hours with weekends and holidays off, and less stress. With the idiots getting crazier on the road, the FMCSA (actually FMCCA, Federal Motor Carrier COMPLIANCE Administration .... it ain't about safety guys) tightening their grip, and truck stops getting less bearable (closed restaurants, etc), the juice is no longer worth the squeeze.

You were driving and used your phone while driving. 4 seconds at 60mph is 352 feet....far enough for an issue to arrive. Break the law and win dumb prizes...in this case a 500 loss and 4hr class. A+ Now not agreeing with the camera point, but his justification is enough to show that he likely has done this many times. A cop sees that and in my state is a 500 fine to you and the company.

If you get caught using your phone whilst driving a motor vehicle, it's up to the Police to enforce a fine; not the company. They can say "we don't condone the use of phones whilst driving", but the penalty for doing so comes back to the DRIVER, not the company. They have no right to have you on cabin-facing camera, or to take away the bonus. Get a new truck job, Brad, two years plus service with this company is more than enough to get something different... and quickly.
