Hi, couple of questions. I have a selfie flying drone ( HoverAirX1) weighing 125gm. We are coming over to Alberta for a week next September visiting Banff and Jasper National parks. I know i can't use it in these parks on any account. The following week we are cruising around Alaska. My question is can i fly my drone without any issue? It will only be to capture holiday footage. Maybe in your next video you could mention the regulations regarding flying in National Parks especially in Canada. Thanks.

Great webinar! Can you answer another question please? Currently, for L1 data QC, DJI Terra allows importing and classifying GCPs as "check points", and measures the point cloud altitude error around those points. However, if i leave the gcps classified as "control points", terra will constrain the point cloud, altering the raw data altitude. Is this recommended fot lidar point clouds? Thank you!
@CANDRONE
@CANDRONE Ай бұрын
If you fit a point cloud to a control network, you are warping and stretching the data. In altering the points this way, you may be degrading the overall accuracy to make one corner fit better, for instance. You could be dragging down the overall accuracy. I would usually start a project by asking a client what their accuracy requirements are and why they need to meet those specifications. If I thought the sensor was capable of those results, I would place GCPs and fly the mission but use the control merely as a checkpoint for generating an accuracy report. If I had done everything correctly, I shouldn't see too much error in the sensor and I would report the results to the client. If I have to stretch and warp the cloud to make it fit, it means the sensor wasn't up to the project in question or the sensor wasn't flown effectively. In essence, I would consider the use case, the sensor capabilities, and what the client is asking for before I alter the points.

You should be alright to do so provided you are 30 horizontal meters away from people. You can read more about the regulations here: tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/drone-safety/learn-rules-you-fly-your-drone/flying-your-drone-safely-legally

@MadMajor86
@MadMajor86 6 күн бұрын
You can fly over people in cars in Canada, even if they are in motion, regardless of the size of your drone. "People inside vehicles or inside buildings are not factored into the 30-metre horizontal distance rule (CAR 901.26). Even if an RPA can fly within 30 m of vehicles, buildings, crew members, or other people involved in the operation, this needs to be done safely (CAR 900.06)." What you have to avoid is flying over motorcycles. They are not considered "inside" a vehicle.

An advanced pilot certificate with authorization if you are flying in controlled airspace and most likely a Transport Canada approved parachute system if you are flying near or over people not involved in the operation.

Greetings. Tell me, when flying a mission in combination with Mavik 3T and D-RTK2, is any post-processing necessary? or the corrected coordinates are already recorded in the photo. and can you build the model directly in agisoft?
@CANDRONE
@CANDRONE 3 ай бұрын
If by post-processing you mean processing your survey data, then yes. If you want to process the data in a globally accurate coordinate position, you must either enter the globally accurate point position of the antenna into your controller before flight, or, if you don't have a good coordinate position up front, extract data from the DRTK-2 to run through a positioning correction service like OPUS or NRCAN. If global accuracy is not important to you and you just want the centimetre precision of RTK only, then processing the photos in Agisoft as is will work fine. The photos are geotagged with RTK precision. The simplest way to get global accuracy with photogrammetry is to set up on a globally accurate point or log static to create your own ahead of time. The latter means going to site a few days in advance of flying.

Foreign drone pilots or operators do not need special permission for fly drones under 250 g. You still need to follow all safety guidelines for micro drones (under 250 g). In Canada, nobody can fly ANY DRONE (even if its sub 250g) in a national park without permission from the park superintendent. parks.canada.ca/voyage-travel/regles-rules/drones

"the battery cycle can reach 400 times" this is abysmal to be honest. If it even flow 2 times a day it would barely last 6 months...
@CANDRONE
@CANDRONE 3 ай бұрын
400 cycle count may seem low, but this is similar to the DJI TB30 and other DJI enterprise series batteries. The DJI Dock is equipped with temperature control and a battery discharge system to prolong the life of the batteries while the system isn't in use. With these controls in mind you can expect to get a little more than you would with the TB30.
