Brilliant! I feel the ancestors when i hear yidaki. Only the brothers can play proper like this. Never seen a white fulla get triples! Doubles yes but listen out for the wonderful triple chamber resonances ( u know it when they bang it out) like monks using "voice" of two tones. One didge, two upper chamber (throat),three hardest- lower chamber. Brilliant!

These movements must be based on the various animals and plants their ancestors had come across. That is just a guess based on other videos of traditional Aboriginal Australian song and dance I have seen though.

Dubstep is electric Yidaki Raymond Ashley sounds on point when dubstep was underground and uk based. The most important thing is dubstep was created through Mento Jamaican music which was influential for the foundation leading towards dubstep. After the influence of 2step garage genres & dark garage around year Y2K or 2000. To be honest as much as I appreciate the USA and it’s influences in other aspects, with dubstep the raw grit was diluted and focused on more sync pop sounds. Best way to say it is America and dubstep never happened they created a different genre called BRO step lol. The Yidaki and the original Australians have been dubbing for generational genres .

I want to say something. I purchased a Yidaki many years ago from you, friend. It’s the one that has a load of tape wrapped around it,it is literally a perfect instrument,it plays like melted butter 🥰 However, this instrument is wrapped in a variety of tape to preserve it,as it is ceremonial/funerary,so I am in the process of returning it to Australia, where it needs to be. I have a second cousin in Sydney,a professional musician,I will send it to him. My name is Charles Perez,if you still have my contact information, please do get in touch,I will show you pics of this instrument
