Alright alright I’m just gonna throw this out there.. and I do agree to some degree on this. He’s quoting 1 John 2:2-8 I believe. The reason I semi disagree is because the word this guy means to use is “if someone says” using a 3rd class condition in Greek using εάν it displays possibility it probability. Then after comes “I have come to know him” this is in a perfect tense in Greek. Which means it’s a past action already completed with ongoing results. I’m not gonna get too into it because I don’t want to confuse many people. I guess I have that tendency 🙄 but this indicates that this person has already come to know Christ already. And then by the usage in a couple verses after some of the words used in Greek indicate that this is not talking about 1st tense salvation but instead about living out his word. Word and command are not the same thing. I believe the word for command is “elantas” and the word for “word” is logov. Why is it important? Because we know the two commands already just a few verses later which is the 2. But the usage of the word logos encompasses all of Christ teachings. And the demonstrative pronoun is nueter I believe but it’s not in the proper case to encompass the ENTIRETY of salvation to lean upon these few verses. So because of that it’s referring to someone who is not currently living out the teaching of Jesus and claiming that they know him. Because faith is also truly lived out when we are also executing his teaching in our life. That’s why Christ praises how faith looks when we see walking in his word (teachings) and yes I know logov is singular but it’s that way to make it more personal and to encompass all his teachings so we can divide the commands and his teachings. Hope this helps. The immediate text might sound scary but by usage of the perfect tense we can see it’s more on our sanctification rather than just focusing only on salvation alone. So beautiful verse to help us obey his teachings but not as a means of proving salvation but that instead he really have grown in the fullness that his teachings offer us.
