I stumbled across your channel today while I was looking for something on how to choose kitchen hardware. I was so thrilled to find a designer in Hawaii! I have a vacation rental condo on Maui that needs a lot of updating. And then I checked out your condo renovation videos and was thrilled again because I recognized the space! My son and his family live in a 2 bedroom/2 bath in Mauna Luan (which they absolutely love.) You can’t imagine my disappointment went I got to the end and learned you moved back to the mainland. C’est la vie.

Hi Nicole, thanks for this video. I had soapstone in my house in New Mexico and I loved it so much more than granite. For one thing my preference for wine is red wine and with that you have to be careful with granite. It’s safe to put something super hot off the stove or from the oven on soapstone. I got it because I love to bake pies and shortbreads all full of lard or butter and because the soapstone is infused with oil you can rollout right on the counter. The coldness of the stone keeps the butter in your dough solid longer

Thanks! Yes, all Simply White. I cannot recall the sheen used on trim and doors, likely eggshell, and walls were matte.

It’s great when your job is only a few steps away. Your Flooret flooring looks amazing! I’m on the Big Island and am wondering how much shipping was for the sq. footage you purchased. Which freight co. did you use and did Flooret recommend a local installer?

Thank you! Our shipment weight was 2,580lbs. and we used Honolulu Freight Service as our forwarder out of Long Beach, CA -- I believe it was around $680. As a designer, I already had my flooring person lined up but I've heard they can recommend people for you.

I enjoyed this video. I'm building a beach house and choosing my hardware. My kitchen cabinets are white and decided on the black hardware but, my island is a gray and I was thinking of brushed nickel there which will match my faucet which is in the island. You answered my question on " does it have to match" so thank you.

Should hang the mirror so you can see your face. It's a little low. It is a nice mirror though.

Valid concern! I haven't had the issue (the heavier the item hung, in my experience, the less it moves around). You could also add felt pads to the mirror to prevent any scraping on the door.

if it's flat on the back of the mirror, why not add some double sided carpet tape? if there's a gap you can stick on some poster board or foam board and then the carpet tape, while still being hung from the door. if you aren't allowed to paint the door/walls use some temporary removable stick on wallpaper on the door (cut to size of mirror before using the carpet tape, since over time the carpet tape may dry and cake onto the door or the removal of carpet tape may also remove paint on the door. make sure you get the correct removable wallpaper, (you can use contact paper but it is a pain to remove). removable peel and stick wallpaper may leave residue but can be cleaned up with soap and water)

Love the soapstone. My question is do go pick out a slab of soapstone the same way you would if it were granite? I would love to do new counter tops and after seeing yours, soapstone would be a consideration. Thank you for sharing. Just beautiful!❤️
