I kinda never liked Ash, for me the side characters like Dawn and Team Rocket I enjoyed more. Ig I understand why people like Ash however I always wished the anime had the protagonists from the games or atleast have Ash finish his journey at the first anime or the Johto anime then introduce a new protagonist for the later seasons. Still though kinda cool and sad to see Ash and friends go ;-;
