I have used spray paint for the track on my layout and came out great. I mounted the track 1st and then applied the paint. I suggest using a block of wood to remove the paint from the tops of the rails while the paint is still wet. It makes it much easier to clean the track afterwards.

Very nice and a great learning tip. I'm putting flex track over foam as well and I have never heard of an issue painting with same paint, etc; now I know. Thanks for sharing!

Great layout project! Good size, not a superlarge two deck monster, but still a lot more than a shelf. Had to hit the subscribe button. N scale is really a wonderful scale, there is so much options with it. I'm building a tiny N scale switching layout at the moment, check it out if you want. Brgds from Germany 👋

Looks great. I love Rix products. Have them on my layout. Try liquid styrene cement for these. Just a dab goes between the parts via capillary action.

When you said the river is going "at an odd angle", thats ok. In fact that makes it more realistic. There is nothing more random than nature. I know we want perfect, attractive, sweeping creeks and rivers on our layout, but thats not how nature is. So relax, what you end up will be prototypical nature. Take care and stay motivated!
