I noticed that starter pinion was steel or brass? Where do I find one of those ? Mines plastic and how that Is even able to Start an engine even once is beyond me ..and how many different set ups do these gt18 mowers come ? Yours is horizontal shaft like mine except my crank shaft faces forward and yours sideways

Man you aren’t kidding about this plastic age we live in lol I want to say I replaced this starter not too long after this vid was shot, and I got it from EBay, I went through 2 starters on this thing before I sold it. Yours must be a newer version of this one, by 81 Sears turned the engines so the crankshaft was front to back and somewhere by the mid to late 90’s they went to vertical shafts.

Saturn it’s great to hear from ya! Ya my nephew scored both of these minis and didn’t have time for them. The Penncraft was in an old junkyard that closed in 1979 and didn’t get opened back up until 2014, that’s when he got it

There is a belt that is a few inches wide. I can’t get mine to go forward or back now. Any help?

Is it a Sears like this one? If it is the belt size should be 5/8x82 or 83 inches depending on what engine it has. And as far as it not moving, could be one of many things I’m afraid.belt, idler pulleys or springs or something in the transmission

@@RooneysSears01 It worked fine then I went n reverse to park it and it quit. There is a belt broken under the hood. But it is not theu usual skinny one? It seems to be a couple inches wide.

I looked again today and that belt is something else. Not sure what it is but the regular belt is fine. Not sure why it quit going in forward and reverse?

Another job well done! I have been trying to find the correct deckbelt for my Craftsman rider. So far, I have tried a 1/2x95 too big, 1/2x85 too short and what was packaged as a 1/2x89 which is actually a 1/2x107 way too big.

This brand name was used on some machines sold through J. C. Penney Co., Inc. They were apparently only sold in the early 1970s, and were made by Rockwell-Delta. Penncraft portable power tools were introduced in late 1964.

I’d say your best bet on finding the year is to base it off the engine numbers presuming it’s the original engine. The numbers should be stamped into the shroud below the sticker. Briggs pretty much always stamped their numbers in until recently. It has really neat patina on it too and the front fenders are so neat!

Thanks Danimal! I’m believing it is the original engine on there, story goes it was in an old junk yard in East Troy that was closed down since the 70’s and only reopened for a month in 2014 and that’s when Tommy got it. It’s soooo caked with shit it ain’t funny lol

Sounds like it needs an overdrive or a taller rear axle ratio.....Engine spins fast in 3rd gear at highway speeds

if you put a 65 and up 3 speed in that the are fully sycromesh nice trannys and work with the three on the tree yes you can shift those into first gear when going 20 or so

Haha the more I got to looking at it that day, and when he took me for a ride, I’m like Tommy this thing isn’t a bel air it’s a 210, and he said oh yeah it says that on the steering wheel lol I’ve never seen a 210 in person before so it was a treat!
