An old friend from my local pub, was a big Billy Fury fan, he married a woman a few years younger than him....He told me with pride and almost teardrops in his eyes, that they walked down the aisle to this song, he was so chuffed, about 15 years later i bumped into him in Manchester city centre, it was my birthday, as my future wife told him, his face lit up "Happy birthday Rob, I'll buy you a birthday drink mate" ....I politely declined saying, we had plan's, but I'd catch up soon, he looked a bit crestfallen, but still a bit chirpy and I'd thought nothing more about it, apart from feeling a bit guilty.....Not long after, i found out that he'd commented suicide by hanging after his wife left him, i felt so guilty, he wanted a shoulder to cry on, i didn't provide it, he looked so happy and positive.as i left him that day 25 years ago...We need to talk and not hide behind a facade of happiness, especially men of a certain age....I recently came across the statue of Billy Fury in Liverpool, i immediately thought of my old friend from Manchester, Rest in peace Ron..😢
