Yes I would also love to know more! We have discussed solar energy but wondered if the investment up front would pay off in the long run or not
@christinah995414 сағат бұрын
@@meganblakelie_solar is a scam. It’s doesn’t pay for itself. I’ve seen so many people disappointed and in monstrous debt due to solar. We moved into our home and the water heater was set to the highest it could go, we turned that down to a safe setting and it has made a huge difference in our power bill. About 30 a month. That’s one place to start, also the dryer uses a lot of power so in the summer hanging what you can to dry outside on a line can help cut back. I try to grill as much as possible in the summer and avoid the oven because it heats the home and makes the AC work harder.

Oooh I think it might have been me who asked that question! All these are things we already do as a one income family. I think the main thing that needs to change for our family is a lower cost of living state. We are in NJ and it’s just ridiculous here. We are planning on moving in the coming year. Oh and I’m cracking down on my hubby’s lunch at work and Wawa stops…that’s adds up to a few hundred every month reallll quick.
@meganblakelie_Күн бұрын
Yes cost of living differences play a huge role! And we have also had to have much accountability where lunches are concerned 😅

Just wanna say hello. I love to watch how people on other continents live their normal lives. Glad you are feeling better! Hopefully you're in the clear now for the rest of the holiday season. I'm not *quite* ready to delve into Christmas - but I do have some gifts already. I make a budget early on in the year so if I see something, I can get it and stash it away. Looking forward to more holiday content as I start to get into the spirit myself!

I can never understand how people say they get bored staying home. Granted, with my first, I felt a little under-challenged coming from a busy career as a teacher. I had a second baby within a year. When my second was about 9 months old, I started feeling like I could do more. I picked up gardening. After my youngest of our four children started pre-school for three days a week, I certified as labor and postpartum doula and now work part-time and contribute to our household in a way, that's closely related to what I've been doing these past 10 years of my life. I bake, cook from scratch every single day, garden, and have been making more and more of our own clothes. I knit and sew. There are SO many ways to stay busy as a homemaker! I wish it was taught in school or even college. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have homemaking classes as mandatory classes during your general education classes in college?!

I'm curious to know what are some of the things you do without as a one income family? What are some of your sacrifices?
@meganblakelie_5 күн бұрын
When we have been fully single income in the past (now this channel is monetized, allowing a little more flexibility each month) - we really tried to only spend money on necessities.. groceries, gas, etc. Homemade meals and from scratch cooking helped us to cut costs. We also opt for simplicity - buying reliable, used vehicles that could be paid for in full instead of taking on a monthly payment. As in this video, having a birthday party at home vs renting a venue or doing something extravagent. These are just a couple things that maybe were not mentioned in the video! Like I said, the word sacrifice is very relative. These things were/are more than worth it for the rewards we receive in choosing to invest in our family like this.

It truly depends on how much that one income is. I think the term “attainable with one income”, is misleading. An income of 25k a year vs 50k vs 100k….only 2 of those are attainable in this country. ❤

Wow this helped me so much. I also am in a place where my husband says we are not financially ready for me to stay home and he is right. I also totally feel that God is telling me to enjoy the season that I am in now and that it is not the time to be a SAHM. It’s hard but I’m trying my best to be obedient even when my heart longs to stay home and raise my son ❤️

Yes! 100% agree, kids are kids and that is ok. There will be meltdowns in public and at home. I try not to let it worry me if people in public see my children having a meltdown or crying. It is a normal thing that children get upset, we all went through the same thing when we were kids.

My thoughts on you wanting to stay home………is you should have stayed home! That is work! Your husband didn’t want to take his providing for all of you seriously. He’s to provide not you.I stayed home for 41 years and did my work. My husband is retired now. I’m not. I’m still doing everything that I always did as far as everything that needs to be done on a daily basis.

O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2).Surah Baqahra 22.23 Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped). And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Quran) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him), then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful.

Nope, takes more than one income when costs are outrageous. This is why a home universal basic income helps all households. We have too many families struggling and living with other households because of this so called economic system. We dont need to be left holding the bag or treated as poor people. Stop the labeling of people because that is not a solution.
