The new version is a half-broken radio
@Ni5ei

The viewing angle of the LCD is terrible on mine. Looking at it even slightly from above you hardly can read it and even looking at it straight from the front there's still not much contrast. It looks best when viewed from an angle below 90 degrees, which doesn't make sense. I think the polarizing filter isn't placed in the right position. [edit] 18:49 Looks like yours is nothing better [/edit] Also, the speaker is crap quality. It sounds very muffled when listening to music since it doesn't produce higher frequencies. The very cheap XHData D-328 sounds better than this expenisive model. I really expected more for this price. You don't buy a radio like this to hook it up to an external amp and speakers.

What kind of radio do you need to transmit?
@nobodynoone2500
@nobodynoone2500 Жыл бұрын
@@matthewlee2686 It's a bad idea to transmit, the sats are mostly semi-decomissioned military and will get you in trouble. Even in Russia and Brasil many people are charged for using the old 1970's united states sats. The new ones are all digital and encrypted. But you need to know the uplink freq, which is usally close to the downlink freq. Some also have a prefix frequency (or a few) than need to be sent to relay.

Hello all. Can any other users of this radio confirm something for me? The screen on my radio displays the timer icon all the time. I noticed in this video yours is also displayed but in other videos it's not visible. Does anyone know of a way to turn this off? Also As mentioned further down the comments resetting this radio does not seem to wipe the memories etc, can anyone conform for me that this is normal behaviour for this radio? Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

I've played around with the radio and found that holding it in a certain way makes a massive difference and there are preferred places where i live that the radio prefers! ive also tried using the antenna as directional and it makes a difference! lately i haven't used the radio much but when i do there is no satcoms around lately! so maybe i was lucky! the radio is programmed with all the numbers i was receiving but now when scanning doesn't pick up the satcom pirates just the local repeaters and local stuff! i went up the hills to get clear of buildings to see if it made any difference! its hilly where i live so its just where i am i wasn't going for height!

I started listening to these pirates when I got my Anytone AT-588 220MHz radio. I discovered quickly that this radio is able to listen all the way up to 279.999MHz and I've been a SWL listener for many years before getting my ham radio license. It's important to make sure that other understand that it is illegal to operate on those frequencies, and that these are output frequencies (downlink) ranging from 250MHz to 270MHz. I've seen a video where someone was jamming one of these output frequencies while thinking that he was jamming the person that was transmiting. Operating on these frequencies to do so is still illegal. The input frequencies (uplink) range from 292MHz to 312MHz. If you happen to be close enough to hear someone on the input frequency, it would make sense to stay clear, as some of them might be drug running, while most (if not all) know that they're operating illegally.

@@dave10524 Hi again. In my case it was the result of my being tired and forgetting that the telescopic aerial on the D808 does not retract into the radio but folds over! This is the result of having different radios with different types of telescopic aerials. However, you are right about the D808's aerial. The screw in the case at the base of the aerial had a tendancy to work loose and I used to carry a screwdriver with me when I took the radio on holiday. Its still a favourite radio of mine. 73s and GDX.
