My Brit was Piper, too! Lifelong puller. When she was really old, she developed what I believe was a "collapsed trachea." Occasionally, without warning, her windpipe would clamp shut, and she could not inhale. Within 30-60 seconds, her throat would relax, and she could breathe again, but she was exhausted. I suspect our life-long bad habit of pulling was a major contributing factor. RIP, Girl. Sorry.

If your Brittany is laid back like mine you don't have to worry bout bout much play. At nearly 10 mine rests more. We use gentle lead to walk. My dog hates peanut butter and biscuits. Loves salmon.

We got our Brittany as a rescue. He's very sensitive, gentle, low barks sometimes, has axiety,is house dog,panimimes his answers to questions, nudges to go out or comes to you does facial and head movements. Or bells on door, taller and heaver than average, anxiety, we crate if we have to go out he nibbles on sweaters, pillows, loves rides walks, children, crowds, small animals, hates any hoping noises scares him to heavy panting, scratches door whines shakes. He's not hyper very laid back. He likes to be petted but not rubbed on body with feet. He'll get up and move if you do. Loves to open his gifts, chichen jerky, and his farmers dog food, denta chews, routines, vercrow 14:30 dog, gentle with grand dogs and babies. A ankle licker. His. Don't much lick us. Has to have teeth brushed high tarter tendencies. Duke is his name.

How old was Roo when you got Piper?
@jark68626 ай бұрын
He was about 5 months old
@mistyjoy89377 ай бұрын
We've had to switch to the black Kong because our Brittany has chewed up the red ones. Nylabone has some for aggressive chewers that are much better than the regular ones. When he chews it enough to get sharp spikes, I just put them on the drum sander. We only use tennis balls outside when we are playing fetch with a thrower (using a pheasant decoy is better but he sometimes he just needs to run and you can get a lot more distance with a thrower). We don't use tennis balls in the house because it takes him less than two minutes to shred one. Instead, we use the non-textured orange Chuckit ball. He hasn't managed to chew through one yet. Also, Nina Ottoson has some puzzle food dispensers that are awesome!

How old was Roo when you got Piper? Any big differences between the male and the female?
@jark68627 ай бұрын
Roo was about 6 months older. Honestly not much of a difference. I think maybe males have more energy, and can be more aggressive if they dont run as much as they need.

Yeah I do and he sure keeps my feet warm. My older lab just loves to run with him in the yard. Just was watching your channel as I do on e in awhile, I ever saw your reply till now. His 'got ya' day was one year ago now. He is still a pup, digs a lot though and gets out but never goes far thankfully. Trying to stop that! Any advice?

We give our Brittany Purina Pro Plan 30/20. He couldn't keep his weight on with the regular PPP. Like the other ones, good advice.
@rogerbeckner64197 ай бұрын
I feed Gunner Pro Plan also but use the 30/20 performance mix ; 30 protein and 20 fat for the energy to hunt all day.
@rogerbeckner64197 ай бұрын
Gunner liked the Kong too much! He chewed the black one for extreme chewers in half in about 2 hours! I found Playology toys at Pet Supplies Plus to be nearly indestructible for him. He has been trained to be a bird hunter and excels at that task! Quail are his "squeeky toys" that he just loves. Pheasants are a little more challenge because they won't always hold tight. Need to get to WV this year to do some Grouse hunting because the population in Ohio is nil. Also looks like I need to go to your area for some trout fishing!
@jark68627 ай бұрын
Sounds like Gunner is quite the chewer haha, I thought my dogs hard chewers, but not as much as that. I will have to check out the playology ones next time I am in there. I need to get Piper and Roo hunting sometime. I know they would love it. I have never done much bird hunting though but it looks very fun. I do love troutfishing around here though and I highly recomend it. It is probably my favorite thing to do in WV
@rogerbeckner64197 ай бұрын
@@jark6862 If they have a good pedigree and high prey drive, they practically train themselves. I worked on Gunner with woah command mostly. Get some pheasant wings and try getting them to point. My best days out hunting was when he just got out there and worked. If we got any birds, it was icing on the cake.
