To me I got the game thinking it was gonna be horror, then realised it was action. I didn't really like this mix it feels like it failed on both although I actually found the world to be so beautiful and relaxing to go looking for collectibles within so I quite enjoyed it (I tend to hate this aspect in games). It was good but felt as though it could have been great.

@Sharky..9 күн бұрын
Definitely interesting to see someone new to the game explain everything they think while trying the game for the first time! I believe there are some guides explaining the basics of the game on the main menu First of all, I think this is a game that's the most fun when you get a group of friends in a voice call and play it together. Whether you become a witch (the ones who have to hide) or a hunter (the ones who have to search) is random, and the host of the game can decide whether it should be a specific or random map, so you were just really unlucky getting becoming hunter in every server and getting the same map :p You can also check what the different abilities do by hovering over them To explain the game modes: In hide and seek, there's a set amount (by the host) of hunters. When they find and catch a witch, the witch becomes a spectator. In mobification, witches that are caught will become hunters and will also start searching for the witches I'd say this game is definitely worth a second try with a group of friends, but you should check out what the abilities and such do or it'll be a little confusing. Also, I can see how prop hunt may be a little boring, because you can just find an overpowered spot and hide there for the entire round without being found, which is why I think it's a lot more fun with friends, because you can give each other little hints or mess around with funny hiding spots! Servers were a little overwhelmed by the thousands of players that came from Epic as it only had a few hundred players at once before, at most. All in all, cool video!
@FlagsonFire9 күн бұрын
Thank you for the explanation. Mobification being a sort of zombie mode makes sense, good change up from the standard hide and seek.

This is a Survival Builder Space game, I would suggest doing the main story game to get your feet wet but once you get going in it then get reforged eden from the work shop. there are so many facets to this game. Enjoy and yes it has a coop play so friends can join you and you can have some grand adventures. learn to Build ships, bases and go exploring the universe it's all at your creative finger tips. You might want to start on a bit easier world or expect to die a lot, till you learn how to survive. I have been playing this game since it first came out. At 68 i'm still fascinated with the building in this game. Oh and yes there is whole universe and many diverse planets out there and factions both good and bad. Enjoy

I really tried to like this game but it gets in it's own way too much. The build system in Enshrouded or even Fallout 4 is more understandable. If I have all the stuff in my base just let me build with what I've got without having to drop every little thing into a hot bar.

I like EGS. I paid 8USD for it during a Steam sale a while back (like maybe a year ago), but only started playing it back in the spring, and I have almost 700 hours in it, so I've certainly gotten my money's worth. I enjoy the exploration, and I like that there's a Steam Workshop full of blueprints I can download for ships/bases, because I'm not feeling wanting to learn to build in the game. All I have to do is gather the stuff needed to build a ship/base, dump the stuff into a "factory" (which doesn't physically exist, it's just a screen that you "feed" stuff to), wait a certain amount of time while it "builds," then spawn it into the game and off you go. I actually enjoy gathering stuff, so this is fine with me. But basically, I just want to play the game, explore, do some missions. I'm not really into the whole FPS combat thing, and generally suck at it (so I have enemies set on "easy" and also set it so that I lose nothing when I die), but still I enjoy the occasional looting of a POI for stuff, etc. I enjoy the "puzzle" aspects of them more than the fighting. I would say that the game is not easy on beginners, and you kind of screwed yourself by starting on a non-beginner planet. But even if you hadn't, the UI is convoluted and even if you follow the tutorial, things aren't well-explained,. and there's a lot of text that sometimes isn't on the screen long enough to read fully. I ended up giving up on the official tutorial and instead watched some "beginner tutorial" series here on KZbin, particularly by a creator called Spanj as well as Stephen Silverbeard. Usually, I don't need to do something like that because I'm pretty good at figuring things out for myself and enjoy doing so, but in this case, I was flummoxed about a few things, and I haven't even really touched building things for myself in the game, which is the most complex thing about the game. Anyway, the KZbin folks helped a lot, but even so I've had to do quite a bit of figuring things out on my own. I imagine a lot of people get frustrated. I've also seen complaints about jankiness and the game being unoptimized. I think "jank" is a subjective thing, but I do agree that the game needs optimization. For instance, it uses more system resources than it ought, I think. Other people fuss about the graphics/animations. I'm forgiving about that. It's a tiny studio (8 people, I think?), and they've used Unity assets that don't all fit together, stylistically, and that were probably originally meant to be just placeholders, but here we are 8? years later, and the "placeholders" are still there. It is what it is. Some people can't get past it. I think the planets actually look pretty nice, if not exactly "alien" in many cases, but the NPCs are...Well, they are something. But I really don't care. It's not like I hang around looking at them. I'm more about being out in space/on planets enjoying the actual gameplay rather that worrying about what NPCs look like.

Thanks for this. I didn't realize how useful it would be on steam with the workshop support. That is an unfortunate negative in getting it on epic, even if it's free.
@memyselfandi417324 күн бұрын
@@FlagsonFire I read on the Steam forums that they're working on making it so that you can access the Workshop with an Epic install. In the meantime, it might be worth your while just to have a look at the Workshop and see what's possible to build in the game. Its building system is amazing; I'm just not really wanting it to get into it (yet?), aside from making modifications to blueprints I use. There are also scenarios on the Workshop that you can play. Reforged Eden is the most popular one. I'm playing that now, and it adds significantly to the game. But since it is a scenario and not really a mod, you can play the scenario as well as a vanilla game without having to remove mods or keeping different folders. That's kind of nice. Anyway, you're right that there's a lot to this game and no way are you going to cover it in 30 mins. The tutorial series I've watched were 30-some episodes long, ranging from 30 to 90 minutes each. So, there's survival (especially at the beginning, when you don't have a ship or food or anything), building (first thing you want to build is a hoverbike; you do that with the constructor that's part of your suit, the same thing you can make energy bars and bandages with, and it means you don't have to walk/run everywhere, especially in hostile environments), exploration (once you build/spawn a ship), trade and diplomacy (of a sort; there are factions that you can build relationships with that give some benefits), FPS combat in dungeons, ship-to-ship combat in space, PvP if you play on a server, etc. I think the goal was to take bits and pieces from all the space game and merge them into one. It ends up as a "jack of all trades, master of none," in my opinion, but I'm having fun playing it. There are the usual bugs and stuff, and I've discovered that it's very easy to screw up. Like, I had a situation early on where I'd gotten pretty far in a save, but when I died once I clicked the wrong respawn option and ended up on a different planet in a different system than my ship, with no way to get back except to build another ship capable of traveling that far. I ragequit that save, but it taught me to use the backup feature often! That stuff aside, in my opinion, this tiny studio (I believe it started as a one-person "team") has done a pretty good job integrating all of the game's various aspects. Even so, as I said, I have 700 hours but I feel I've only scratched the surface. Partly because of my own screw-ups, of course. I'd say I've only ever reached mid-game, but I'm happy to take my time and figure things out. Overall, if you're going to stick with it, I'd recommend starting over, this time NOT on Ningues (the snow planet), but on Akua, which is a nice, lush, temperate planet where it's easy to find things to eat and other resources. Just follow the story, which introduces you to one of the game's factions, and you'll figure things out. :) I can't say I really recommend the game's tutorial. It confused me more than anything.

@torgrimhanssen510029 күн бұрын
@@ConnyWest98 one of the challenges to new players is getting used to blocks that exceed your player inventory, I have seen to many times a player complain how long it takes to make a starter base due to no suit / minimum capacity only allowing you to carry 5-10 blocks (Base/CV). As an example, slapping together a hover vessel is quite easy, but a SV and later CV will require a base constructor (SV and CV starter block). There is also that beginner problem with starter planet, Akua is the planet most should start out on, other planets have hardcore starter resource limits. Like if you want to do a Dead world start, you must know how to build without factory, know that some materials are excessively rare etc. RE2 Pandora looks like a simple start, but it has practically no wrecks limiting materials until you get into orbit. And then there is planets with deadly fire from the sky, no oxygen and high radiation (excessively deadly to beginners). There is also deadly hailstorms, acid rain, radioactive fog etc. Heavy acid rain as an example will kill you regardless of protective gear in 10-20 dmg ticks.

Currently have about 5000 hrs in game. Several great servers to play on with helpful players on them. This is a Indie game made by 3 or 4 guys, now they got some Funco money and put out Dark Faction (not good). You either make your own ship or download a blueprint from the workshop. One of the best answers. Starting on Ningues as a total newbie is a joke. He said before, he should have started with the first option. The Nigues start is extremely hard, you need to make a lot of herbal tea to keep yourself warm an get a base or HV fast. Doing this without a death is close to impossible. But as the original poster stated, the vanilla game is nice, but the real game experience only comes with scenarios like Reforged Eden. There are some more nice scenarios but the truth is, Reforged Eden is the most played.

It has mediocre rating for several reasons: 1) Bad animations and not AAA graphics 2) Lot of reading and no voice-over 3) Confusing UI and very steep learning curve, definitely not beginner friendly 4) Fair amount of jankyness, some annoying bugs and unpolished 5) Some haters since they made a partnership with Funcom and released a DLC before finishing the game story It's a niche game, not a game for everyone, but if you like block-building game and survival (like Minecraft or 7 Days to die) with a sci-fi twist, this is a banger. Especially with the scenario called "Reforged Eden" which adds tons of content and new systems. About your video: You indeed picked one of the hardest starter. The dedicated tutorial is absolutely recommended if you intend to play this game, since there is a lot to learn and know about the different complex systems. There is no penalty for death aside dropping your backpack, which you can pick up again. There is no collision damage and flight model is very arcad-y, but you can disable your inertial dampeners to have a more realistic feel.
