Hi Martin, this is an excellent video. Brief and to the point, making it very easy to watch. Hopefully piquing people's interest to learn more about RAP. In Hawaii, our DOT is doing a pilot project using tow 50% RAP mixes. One produced using Anova, the rejuvenator by Cargill and the other mix using the Georgia DOT corrected optimum asphalt content (COAC) approach.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that you are paving high RAP test sections! I hope the results will be encouraging for routine 50% + recycling. The COAC approach sounds interesting. Please let me know once you have some results.

@PeerRecognized2 жыл бұрын

If I-46 is going to connect between I-35 near Perry Oklahoma to I-49 in Fayetteville Arkansas, then I-48 might connect from I-40 & I-85 in Greensboro to I-95 near Dunn (north of Fayetteville) North Carolina. Like to see more of “8s” as of last digit of the interstate numbering system, like they did it for “2s”. For the “2s” column, we have I-2 in Texas, I-12 in Louisiana, I-22 connected between Memphis Tennessee and Birmingham Alabama, I-42 has been approved in North Carolina, I-72 in Illinois, and I-82 which connected at I-90 near Ellensburg Washington to I-84 near Hermiston Oregon. They could add I-32 which connect from Texarkana Arkansas to Tuscaloosa Alabama, I-52 could be in Kentucky if approve, and I-92 would have connected from I-87 near Glens Falls New York to Portsmouth New Hampshire, but it is cancelled. For the “8s” column, we have I-8 in California and Arizona, I-68 in Maryland and West Virginia, I-78 in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and (2) of I-88, one in Illinois and other is in New York. Hoping to add more of “8s”, such as I-18 which might connect from Dallas Texas to Lafayette Louisiana, I-28 might be in northern Georgia, I-48 could be in Arkansas and Oklahoma, or North Carolina, I-58 might be in Missouri or Virginia, and I-98 could be connected from Watertown New York to Burlington Vermont, but it was cancelled.

I’m fortunate enough to have been able to drive almost every mile of the interstate system. Regardless of the accuracy of this video, it is still a good representation of the order of completion. That said, the interstate system is not a personable at the US Highway system. Sure, it’ll get you from point A to B in a timely manner, but it bypasses a lot of great places. Some of my favorites: 8, 15, 24, 25, 27, 29, 35, 39, 40, 44, 55, 64, 70, 74, 76 (both segments), 80, 84, 90, 94. My least favorites include: 4, 12, 26, 68, 77, 79, 97.

68? It's gorgeous! Probably one of my favourites (right up there with 70 between Cove Fort and Denver). But yest, I agree that interstates are best used when time is of the essence (or snowy weather is threatening). We prefer to cross the country off-slab whenever possible. Once you get west of the MN/ND to LA/TX line, almost all roads of significance are the same as far as speed.

Parts of it there weren't completed until 1987, so it didn't have the full interstate designation there at the time as it had gaps, similar to how I-99 is complete all the way between Williamsport and the NY border, but since it has a brief gap between Williamsport and I-99 south of I-80, it just has a "future interstate" designation.

@@blockyuniverse7881 I-70 was built long before 1992 in Colorado, and 1990 in Utah. I-70 actually opened in 1970 in Utah. A new bridge was built in 1990 in Utah, so that's where the 1990 date comes from for Utah. There is a redesigned section through Glenwood Canyon Colorado that was completed October 14, 1992, that must be where the Colorado 1992 date comes from. There is an elevated section there now, the highway used to just be down by the Colorado river. I drove from Denver through Vegas to San Diego before 1990. We went west on I-70 through the Eisenhower tunnel that first opened March 8, 1973 all the way to I-15 where it ends and then south to Vegas and San Diego. I remember a friend of mine saying that he thought I-70 went all the way to the Pacific ocean. But it ends in Utah where it meets I-15. Can't go by the last completed section dates. Although this video is a good idea, using the opening dates would have been more accurate than completed dates. In the description it says he went by the completed date, but that date will constantly be changing. The opening dates won't change.
