I agree. I genuinely don't mind if games have swearing or adult themes in them, but it gets to a point where it's just trying too hard and you can tell it is just a way to drum up shock factor given how excessive it can be. I think this game could have some really great potential if it managed that sort of dynamic between serious and comedic, but what I played leaned almost entirely into the over the top "comedy" making it just seem childish at times. I hope the dev understands that they don't have to make every character curse on every line in order for them to be a memorable character.

I think it just has an issue of trying too much to make you laugh or be surprised. A game shouldn't be at a 10 all the time otherwise it just feels like the same. The meta interaction implied a more real story, but all that was was the woman who used her charm to stay alive and everyone just used her to say crazy things, so it wasn't properly utilized. If there was a more serious tone every once in a while I think it would really help offset the forced humor.

@Prozeon
@Prozeon 2 ай бұрын
@@MoonanaGames I never thought of Dark Souls as an inspiration from the gameplay. Things are totally fine if they are intended to be hard, however I felt like it is difficult to learn attack patterns without being taught that other attack patterns exist. If you did another fight tutorial with an enemy that showed a different attack style, then it would let the player know that they should expect that sort of potential in the future. I felt like some of the QTE I came across were ones I wasn't ready for until I inevitably failed at them, i.e. anytime I needed to use arrow keys. There wasn't any sort of heads up that that was even a possibility, so I failed my first one just because as a player I was never made aware of it being an option, and that is where my headspace is at during my time playing. I don't mind the timing being tricky, as it shouldn't be something mastered in one or two encounters, but I felt like I was never really given the tools to properly get my feet beneath me before being thrown curveball after curveball. As for the comments about which version of the demo I played, I downloaded the demo available during the Rhythm fest just about a week or so ago. If this wasn't the correct version, I am unsure of where to get the correct one. I understand not every game is for everyone, and I 100% understand the need to defend your game. I think it has a ton of great qualities to it, I just think it needs a little bit of tweaking to make it cross that threshold that would make me say "yes, this is a must play". I truly think you will find your audience and I wish you the best of luck as I know these sorts of things are not easy to make. I, by no means, was trying to be hyper critical and I would be happy to discuss this more if you would like.
@MoonanaGames
@MoonanaGames 2 ай бұрын
@@Prozeon I think more than defending my game, I'm trying to make clear that people get correct information about the game, most people watching videos like this, for an indie game, won't even try the game, right? So I'm just correcting possible misinformation about the game. Did your demo playthrough have a difficulty selection? If yes, you're playing an older version of the game that isn't reflective to the release version. What we changed in the game might be crucial for this to be something you'd enjoy playing, since we changed timings for counters etc. If it didn't have the difficulty selection on the prologue, then I'm 100% open for further discussion, as I'm really invested into making this game more palatable for the public, specially the beginning, when people will still be learning gameplay XD There's nothing I want more than having more people invested in the game. With that being said, with current changes, I genuinely think that my game doesn't need defending because it speaks volume by itself, and it's not made for everyone, but more for a specific crowd that likes difficult combat in RPGs and challenge. It's also EXTREMELY satisfying once you get out of that headspace of "this is impossible". I think if you can't find the similarities with Dark Souls it must be also because you're comparing it wrongly, as this is still an indie title, with just a small team testing for QA. Whatever feedback we had was sparse, with smaller groups of testers than what you get with From Software. The combat ideals are the same, execution obviously isn't the same, this is a turn based rpg instead of a AAA action game. And so we reproduce ideas we like, like the idea that each enemies have their own timings (like any fromsoft game). Now I'm more defending my team capabilities and what we can achieve within our limited resources, because I feel people forget about that when talking about indie development. "There wasn't any sort of heads up that that was even a possibility" I don't understand this, for example, it's a different enemy, do you mean having a test in the middle of the screen popping up saying "Enemies have different timed hits"?

Thanks :) Crypt Custodian held onto my most viewed video title for a while and I'm glad it helped bring you here

The idea to manage a TCG card shop sounds neat, but I can imagine how repetitive it can become without adding more features.

It definitely could be built upon to make it something more entertaining, but it's not a bad start

I was actually pretty good friends with the owners of my flgs, and I have to say it's pretty spot on about everything third customer...

Haha I imagine it is pretty true, it is just weird that they made that a priority over extra content/bug fixes.

Great new series and those games definitely look very similar and can be compared for sure. Nevertheless I am not a big fan of civilization games and the deckbuilding aspect isn´t enough for me to consider either games of them. But great new video series :)

Thanks :) I honestly was super into Hexarchy when I first got to play it, but I feel like these 4X games are really cool and then I just lose interest. I thought the deckbuilding would help, and it did, but it's still just a struggle to keep me engaged.

I wish both of them had the unique interactions between the civilizations that Civilization had. I think that would help the longevity too.

I think that would help as well. Just something to keep things fresh and engaging as opposed to dump my hand and then end the turn.

Loving the idea of the series! It's good to know the differences for things like these. That said...neither of these will be for me. I love 4X games to death, but boy oh boy am I bored of deckbuilding. Amazing work as always sir! Keep it up! Excited for more in the series.
