Thanks for your tips. I really appreciated how you demonstrated your approach, identifying small yet important problems and prototyping design improvements. Simple but ingenious, explained with humility and humour. Ummmmm….I noticed a big bandage on a finger. Please tell me it isn’t a mill injury!? I just got my 130max for my birthday. Growing more confident to start milling with videos like yours….but your finger…😮

I had to watch that old video again to see which finger. Not the sawmill. Table saw, the most dangerous tool in the shop. I sold that old saw and bought a new one and kept the safety guards.

I went with a 3/4 hp last time to save 400 dollars and it works fine for pens etc. but not enough muscle for bowls. I purchased this one last time with 1 hp and it maks all the difference . Never slows , is very smooth, easy to change speeds with reverse for sanding. Had it about a month and absolutely love it.

I wouldn't run that standing in front of it. Easier to see but ive seen enough blades come thru the metal housing to know if that happens, you are in direct line of fire. I used to walk right beside the blade guard until a blade came thru about 18" and almost got my leg. I also had a shaking problem but it was due to some bolts that worked lose and when a wind storm hit, knocked the head off the tracks and misaligned everything. Had to take mill off the tracks and reset to get rid of it.

First time we put out crab pots, one was gone when we got in from fishing. We noticed while heading out that there were two other pots near our two. When we came back, the only on left was one of ours, clearly marked with our ID. About fifty yards off was a lone pot, no ID. I figure that one either got dragged off or otherwise displaced. I figure the owner came back, saw three, and took two. I don't put down crab pots in Tillamook Bay anymore unless I can stick around and watch them.

This was and is my top contender choice so thank you so much for your review. I am working on a Beaver/Rockwell at the moment so definitely identify with your first part of the video haha I worry that this model is not enough of a size increase but only experience on one of the big lathes would tell. My biggest issue on this lathe is there appears to be no tailstock support when turning on the outboard. right? When turning the biggest pieces you'd want the safety/support and not have it. Seems odd. Last note I see on LeeValley they showed current model shows a forward/reverse switch where you can tell which position it is in. I wonder what other fixes they have had :)

@@OregonOldTimer That's awesome! I'll have to be sure to keep checking back in hopes of seeing what you come up with. Recently I was reminded that even with a longer outboard extension the tailstock would need a 2" raise on that side to work. I wonder if they make risers or how to solve that. Happy turning!
@OregonOldTimer
@OregonOldTimer 3 ай бұрын
@@perrys5954 Thanks for the dope-slap prompt. It hadn't occurred to me that I'd need a two-inch riser for the tailstock. Oh well, at least I'll have more room for the banjo and tool rest.

Barefoot shoes which are the same shape as the Crocs will let you wear the correct size without extra socks but still allow your foot to spread as nature intended. There's a lot of choice nowadays with brands like Lems and Vivo for example. I love mine and would never buy "normal" shoes again

I wear wide shoes too! BUT 40 yrs of work boots and a broken left big toe joint, both my Big toes are pushed up against my 2nd toe. I was born with 2nd and 3rd toes, both feet joined together up to the last joint right behnd the toenail back line. Now that I'm retired I'm fighting bunions and corns. A day in a pair of wide work boots and my feet hurt like walking on sharp rocks by the time I take them off for the day. My feet need a Miracle to ever get both big toes straight again. P.s. The way to keep socks clean and dry is to wear bread sacks or similar plastic bags over socks. I do that with boots when hunting in wet woods. I'm lucky in that my feet don't sweat.
