Really cool video! I wonder if any of the Ixalan transforming lands are budget? One suggestion I might add to the deck is Stone-Seeder Hierophant. It's a slower but definitely great budget option for a little bit of ramp and preventing your lands coming in tapped. It taps to untap a land then untaps when a land enters the battlefield. It's like Amulet of Vigor/Archelos but it has to tap, so it does ramp you by one each turn even though it's slower.

I was obsessed with this style of deck when I saw a Canadian highlander deck with only 8 lands. It was pre-MDFCs. It gets crazy once you start using the most efficient tutors and mana rocks.
@korehaven89083 жыл бұрын
To explain why the title 'technically' isn't wrong is that since all the lands being used are the backside of a MDFC, they fall under this ruling : 712.4a - While a double-faced card is outside the game or in a zone other than the battlefield or stack, it has only the characteristics of its front face.

Recent experience with this deck in my play group: Got Goblin Charbelcher (GC) and Unwinding Clock in play around turn 5 or 6, along with enough mana rocks to generate 3 mana. During next player's uptap phase, I untapped it all, ran GC using the now-untapped mana rocks, and killed that player. Then did the same for the next player. And then, the last player. Game over. I was told to never play that deck again. Thanks!

i love the idea, and it would be neat to experiment having a different commander but Garth may be the best. i would recommend making use of a handful of things that would allow you to "Sacrifice an artifact" because the last thing you need is someone exiling your Goblin Charbelcher.... I've been trying to work on a similar deck for a while, except the commander is grist, the hunger tide. He can be the commander because of his first ability making him a 1/1 insect creature while he is not on the battlefield. The deck is, of course, a combo deck that utilizes cards like doubling season to help him ult the turn he drops, and then undercity enforcer and balustrade spy to self-mill your entire deck. I have been struggling with the deck though because there just aren't enough green or black mana dorks and mdfcs to both consistently power your mana base AND have enough left in your graveyard to one-shot the table.

It's an activated ability that is legal to activate. While the ability is resolving, you reveal cards until you reveal a land card or until you can't reveal cards any more. The rest of the ability still takes effect. The only time a spell or ability "fizzles" is if the spell's target(s) are invalid. BTW, "trigger" is a specific term that applies to abilities that trigger when something else happens. Such as "when this enters the battlefield" or "when you deal damage to a player". You would need haste
@100beep53 жыл бұрын
If you can give him haste, then sure.
@Buchaus3 жыл бұрын
Note also that black lotus gives you three mana of any one color, so I don't see how it works, even with haste. You tap Garth for lotus, crack lotus for white, use a white to cast cloudshift, then when Garth re-enters, you would have to find a way to make a green. Tapping for a lotus again would mean you would need an additional way to untap him because cloudshift would be in your graveyard. Tapping for regrowth means you wouldn't be able to cast it with the mana in your mana pool.
@marsteller16583 жыл бұрын
@@Buchaus if you tap for green mana first, then the second one for white, it is possible to get infinite etb's, but you'd have to add one or two extra mana to get it started. It'd just be really weird tho. Plus, he would need haste somehow.
@Buchaus3 жыл бұрын
@@marsteller1658 I'm still not seeing it. If you tap for green first, you wouldn't have the white mana for cloudshift. Even if you had one white open and cast cloudshift, you would have to tap for regrowth, which would leave you with one green mana to bring cloudshift back. Then tapping for another lotus, this time for white, to cast cloudshift, leaving you with 2 white 1 green, and tapping again for regrowth, leaving you with 1 white to get shift back. Cloudshifting again, leaving you with no mana left over, and tapping for lotus would leave you with 3 green, cloudshift in your graveyard, and Garth tapped so you couldn't activate him again for a regrowth. It's entirely possible I'm missing something, but I can't see how it goes infinite.

To be clear, if you have 80 cards left in your library, the damage will cap at 80 since there won’t be any cards left in the library and there are no lands? Or does it go into a loop since you put the card back on the bottom, making you draw infinitely? Thanks
