Porsche are notorious for understating the speed of their cars. If they say "6.5" then even a baby could get 6.5 from it - all day long. This should not surprise you in the slightest, after discovering that no horses had escaped from under the bonnet!

@@Luminary2024 the manual car would record a faster 0-60 time, but it would not actually be faster on the road. You can just do a faster launch from standstill with the manual for various reasons. However to get this 0-60 performance benefit you would need to be pretty brutal with the clutch, so best of luck with that, and I don't recommend anyone doing it very often! Far better to get the Tiptronic and launch it without worrying about a clutch.

Got to make the distinction between 0-100 KM/H and 0-60 MPH, which as we ALL know (or should do by now) is 0-62 versus 0-60 MPH. German manufacturers quote figures in metric, being European.

Porsche tends to be very conservative with how fast they say their cars are. Essentially, what they claim the 0-60 is will actually be a little slower than what it really is. This holds true across most of their cars and is sometimes even true for the top speed. Most major car review websites will give the numbers they observed in their tests and they're almost always better times than the official times.

Would have loved a vbox when i had my 98 JDM impreza wrx. Subaru claimed 4.7 seconds and mine was stock making 281bhp with 100k miles on the clock. Would have been interesting to see if i could have got close to that. Realistically i think 5 seconds would have been achievable without dumping the clutch at 6k rpm.

0-60 would be faster in a boxster but it only goes 58 in 2nd so the gear change for extra 2 mph adds an extra 0.5 seconds. Apparently Porsche did this on purpose so it wouldn’t be as quick as the 911s

@brentjohnson51715 жыл бұрын
That's the variocam system going to a more aggressive cam profile. If you have the regular variocam it holds them open a little longer, with variocam plus it will hold them open longer and give them more lift as well.
@mrradman29864 жыл бұрын
Absolutely when going for performance you want to keep the engine in the band between 4000 and the redline after getting out of first from a standing start. Trouble is on the road you will be above legal speeds when using the upper band revs and hence you find yourself changing up at 4000 just when the magic happens.
