Back in the 90s I did some C programming for AS/400. Coding was done in an AIX machine and the makefile actually copied the source files to AS/400 and compiled them there.

Wow Matthew! nice video here! I always asked the same: everything is a table ?

Excellent video, congratulations. But if there is more than one source program in the qcsrc library, it will only show the first one, what about the rest? Why can't I see them?

It would have been interesting if you would have looked at the entries in OBJECT_STATISTICS, SYSFILES, SYSPARTITIONSTAT, SYSTABLESSTAT, etc.

All that is missing is ISPF. IBM is insane. Here you go world, IBM mainframes year 2000 and years prior.

Interesting that the Create bound C Program (CRTBNDC) command that you ran with PDM option 14, doesn't allow you to specify the activation group. I see it is built with *NEW.
@MatthewMainframes Жыл бұрын
If you enter 14 on the line and then prompt it with F4, you get all the options for the CRTBNDC program. Just entering 14 and hitting enter gives you the defaults.

How do i get a virtual server or emulator for AS/400 IBM i 7.3 ???
@MatthewMainframes6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately there is no emulator for the system. But the good news is pub400.com gives out free accounts on their system!
@JoshLathamTutorials Жыл бұрын
We're still writing code on it!

How do I download this, I am interested?
@MatthewMainframes Жыл бұрын
IBM i is an operating system that only runs on supported IBM POWER servers. There's no way to run it or emulate the necessary hardware on x86 machines. If you want to explore it for personal projects, though, pub400.com offers free accounts on their system.

This will be a stupid comment, but i clicked to several places in the video without really following. And now i'm confused whether this system can be programmed with C :D
