Hi Matt, thanks! Precision planning is one thing... execution will be quite another 🤣 I've had some helpful tool advice - a Tenon saw and mitre block - neither are expensive, so I've since bought both, so we'll (eventually) see how I get on with those 🙂

Hi Jonathan! Great update! Really enjoyed seeing your struggles with the jigsaw! Lol! I have the same relationship with mine! For the size of wood stock you're using, it's really worth taking a trip to B&Q or similar, and having a look in their offcut bins! My local one has been invaluable, and all you need do is give a small donation to charity, so everyone wins! Anyway, the plan looks solid, and only benefited from the time you had to think about it! Hi Ian :) Thanks! Yes the jigsaw is useful but very noisy and I find it difficult to use accurately, but I think I'm in at least good company from what I've seen on KZbin. Thanks for the suggestion - it sounds like B&Q is likely to be the way to go, and sadly some manual sawing too - some much for nice accurate cuts done by someone else! I've been directed to a different kind of saw and a jig to guide it - both a cheap, so I'll give that a go :) Thanks, yes, time to think can be dangerous, but in this case proved beneficial!

Hi, I’m looking forward to how this turns out, I’m planning a section of my layout to be based on the same section of track you’re modelling, although it won’t be an exact copy. It did make me laugh as I to have the same troubles with woodwork, I really do have a love hate relationship with my jigsaw! Cheers for now, John

Hi John, yes I was pleased when you mentioned in one of your videos that you'd be doing a Dawlish-inspired section on Exehaven 🙂 Making model railways has taught me that woodwork, though necessary, is not something I enjoy 🤣

I died a little bit inside when I saw you using a Plasterboard surform on wood, and then a little more when you said you've used it to trim doors 😢

Oh dear, sorry about that! It was years ago I bought it - I'm sure it was labelled as being suitable for wood (I wouldn't have bought it else) - is it meant for smaller jobs than door planing? I wouldn't want to distress you further with the number of centimetres of door that this had turned into sawdust over the years, but there are at least no more rooms in the house that need new carpet any time soon 🤣
