Ena was at times, very churlish about her situation and friends. She really didnt want to help keep the hall tidy did she? I'm glad she became far more amiable and pragmatic as she grew older.

In a Socialist country you do not have the right to sue (especially in the 60's).... Ena was claiming to take the landlord to the cleaners, when in fact she had no right to do so and no law to back her up, so the story line was in fact a moot point. I never did understand why old women were so difficult, but now understand because their whole lives amounted to nothing. Even by today's standards women are still treated the same why, so that makes Ena a hero in my book.
