Many off-road vehicles aren’t truly off-road because when two wheels from opposite sides are spinning the car stops and doesn’t have momentum to go forward, because the other two wheels don’t get any power. A car with Traction Control (TC) detects this situation and “brakes” the spinning wheels in order to shift power to the other wheels and these get the car moving forward.
Range Rover P38 late models have 4 wheel TC and previous models may have optional rear traction control or no TC at all.
My approach was to replace the parts needed to provide at least rear TC. My YM 1998 P38 don’t have TC because it has the ABS breaking module part no. ANR2238. Replacing this with ABS module ANR 2239 will fix this as long as the ECU module is also the right one.
To have the rear wheels TC option available (up to YM 1999) you must have: The ECU part no. ABS ECU Wabco ANR4898; The Brake Booster part no. ANR2239 (and not ANR2238).
