My personal favorite Bond film. Dalton nails the performance, and the supporting cast is just as good. A whole host of charismatic villains, fun gadgets, great action, and even a secret underground lair! LTK feels like the perfect distillation of what Bond movies are.

What is interesting about this scene is that it is one of the most memorable chases in Bond history. Other chases had more rapid editing, or had faster vehicles or planes, but a TANKER chase of all things is quite a cool and unique thing. Anyone who has seen this film even once remembers it as the "Bond film with the tanker chase."

I completely agree! Probably the best action sequence in the whole series. Director John Glen had developed the tanker chase on storyboard for eight years, and he finally go the chance to realize it in his last Bond film. I was a big fan of Tim Dalton, I thought his bond films were excellent, and he added a much missed bit of grit, which was a real tonic, after Rogers smooth portrayal. It's a bloody shame he didn't get another crack at it. When I saw him in Hot Fuzz, I thought he could possibly still do a job as bond, didn't realise what a big bloke he was, and he looked pretty fit.

I think Dalton is finally getting the credit he deserves now compared to when he actually played James Bond, there are still a number of fans I have read comments that don’t like Dalton and his films but plenty of fans who do myself included. I am a big James Bond fan and have been since i was 9 years old when Goldeneye came out in 1995. They were supposed to make a James Bond film in 1991 but to legal ligation starting in 1989 and lasted until 1994 that would have been Daltons third film. He was also considered for Bond going back to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1968 but at 22 he felt way too young and inexperienced to take on the role. Timothy Dalton was also considered in 1980s for Bond as a replacement for Moore had he stepped down as Moore was going to retire from Bond after Moonraker then he came back for For Your Eyes Only in 1981 and had planned to retire after that but chose to come back again for Octopussy and A View To a Kill in which Dalton was close to landing the movie but Moore decided one more to return. Moore regretted doing A View To A Kill and it would have fit better for Dalton. Moore retired officially from the role in 1986 before The Living Daylights began production and Dalton finally got the role. Property of A Lady was supposed Daltons 3rd film to be released in 1991. Dalton decided to leave the role in 1994 after 6 years of legal issues and delays he grew tired and frustrated with it all and wanted to move on to other projects.

Dalton only did two films and was offered a third film but the film couldn’t be greenlit to start production due to legal issues starting in 1989 and lasted until 1994 which stopped Bond films from being produced and released. They were planning a Bond film in 1991 and would have been Dalton’ s third but by 1994 when Dalton was offered to come back for Goldeneye which would have been his official third movie he was fed up with all the delays and legal problems. Dalton decided to retire from playing Bond and move on to other film and theater projects. Dalton turned in his resignation in 1994 and Brosnan took over in 1994 to begin filming Goldeneye. When they offered Dalton to return for Goldeneye producers had planned to give Dalton a contract to return for other Bond films after Goldeneye as well but Dalton by that point was done and didn’t want to commit to multi picture deal at age 48.

This was the best scene in all of the Cheech & Chong films. So cool they brought Pee Wee Herman back for another cameo. Production values were never particularly high, but it was entertaining nonetheless. I laughed my ass off.

@@scottknode898 I've seen better action in any 1980s TV show like the A-Team. The production quality of this film is atrocious. 0:19 seriously...look at that expression... is that how Bond would react? At least Roger Moore would have squinted in annoyance if he saw a rocket being aimed, and not look bewildered. How about that gripping dialogue....."Oh no. S***."

To think he was inches from signing into a 3rd movie, don’t know the complete story though, somewhere of a last minute replacement, he was fantastic.

1:40 the truck driver with a worried face noticed that Bond would put the truck on 2 wheels and that his truck would be hit instead of being hit on Bond's truck: the driver of the truck is a prophet. The destroyed truck is apparently several meters away, how did he know that the mobster was using a rocket launcher?

Roger Moore era always was about "save the World". Dalton bring back the Old fashion spy intrigue to the saga.
After Bond kills Killifer using the same shark tank used for Leiter, M meets Bond in Key West's Hemingway House and orders him to an assignment in Istanbul, Turkey. Bond resigns after turning down the assignment, but M suspends Bond instead and revokes his licence to kill. I wish you could run away once more to dismiss Bond'd come to Turkey! :) (It came 2 times after this movie, but not with Timothy Dalton :) ) . From Turkey with Love :)

The most serious Bond films of all, Dalton was a perfect Bond, too bad that he didn't make more than two.

I Think that Dalton is a good bond, he played well the role, but in my opinion the screenplay of the films wasn't good enough.
Initially I didn't think I'd like this movie since he loses his license to kill but it turned out to be great.

Licence To Kill: The LAST truly great Bond-Film. Dalton was superb, John Glen a fantastic director. Brosnan had to fight his way through four weak screenplays.
