James Bond 007

3 жыл бұрын

“I’ve got a little itch down there, would you mind?” James Bond is tortured by Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) in CASINO ROYALE following the Aston Martin barrel roll and kidnap of Vesper (Eva Green). The wooden chair Daniel Craig is sitting on was actually fitted with a fibreglass screen underneath to prevent any unwanted injuries to the 007 actor. Directed by Martin Campbell.

@@goochipoochie No it was his kid. There was a reason why James decided to just die, because if he was too close to Madeleine or Matilda (I think?), his nanobot virus would kill them. Edit: Just the kid alone, because she shares his DNA.

Actually this is a very logical thing for Bond to do. If he displays fear, Lechiffre would have just tortured him more. However, by joking about the situation and act as if he’s enjoying it, Lechiffre becomes frustrated and panics. Making his opponent emotional and getting stabbed to death is better than getting tortured to the very end

yeah I got kneed hard in the groin ONCE when I was a kid when at school by someone else, and wound up having a giant black and blue patch across the sack that I had to go to the hospital for. Not that I recall it creating any real lingering serious damage at the time, but just it took plenty awhile to get over, the pain and mark to subside.

I feel like it's kind of helpful that it's SO beyond the pale of anything he's had to viscerally endure before, it's SO terrifying, you wind up feeling like to feel scared would be pointless, be irrelevant. You go beyond the boundaries of having an understanding of it to be scared, you're actually kind of serene and zen about it.
@zacharybutler5944
@zacharybutler5944 3 жыл бұрын
well first off, i wouldn't call you that, I wouldn't call anyone that, that's just horrible. Second of all, you can't be trained to "ignore" or "not feel" fear. You can be trained to deal with fear, and to process it in a healthier way, and to control your reactions to it. Bond is clearly doing all of that. He's in a situation where he's probably going to die, his mission will fail, and someone he cares about is probably going to also have horrible, horrible things happen to them. He's scared. He's a brand new 00 agent, too--he probably hasn't even been in this exact situation before, or at least not this bad. He also almost died earlier in the night, so he's already tired, in pain, and stressed. ANYONE would be scared there, and anyone saying they wouldn't be is a liar, or stupid. What happens next is the important part, though: he controls his response to that fear PERFECTLY. He doesn't break, he composes himself enough to keep ahold of himself as stuff spirals out of control. But he's still terrified--you can see it in Craig's performance. tl;dr: bravery isn't lack of fear, it's facing your fear. also, don't call people retarded.

"Money isn't as valuable to our organization as knowing who to trust." I was in the theater opening night, and when White said those words, I knew SPECTRE was back, or at very least a modernized version of it, and was so excited because I knew we were in the beginning of something truly epic. Fast forward damn near 20 years with the Craig Era now behind us, there is still a twinge of disappointment when I look back and think about how SPECTRE/Quantum was handled, but all in all I still think this is my favorite Bond era to date. I may not have gotten the SPECTRE or Blofeld I wanted, but I enjoyed revisiting Bond's archnemesis nonetheless.

Mads Mikkelsen (Le Chiffre’s actor) went to one costume fitting. Everyone was stressed as they were trying to cast Vesper. So when he showed up, he hung out with Daniel Craig. When the director showed up, he told him, “Go home. Why are you here?” Which confused him. The director came back and said “no you don’t understand, you got the part, welcome aboard. The only question remains: will you yield, in time?” Damn, the dialogue for this scene is so bone-chilling, and it’s so well-acted! @@prophecybydefault4708 I wouldn't call it suffering if you enjoy it. Extreme amounts of pain are what I'd call suffering & that ain't fun for anyone. But just a bit of pain can be enjoyable. Hard to explain I guess

I just loved Mads Mickelson as a Bond Villain. The transformation he shows from "Give them 5 min and throw them overboard" to "I ll get the money" is just amazing.

This scene works so well, where other torture scenes fall flat, purely because it’s so believable. Every other torture scene operates off of some futuristic technology, or a fictional scientific concept, or some ridiculous environmental hazard. Here, all that Le Chiffre needed was a chair, some rope and an empty location. You can buy that by the time he drove to the place after capturing Bond, he could’ve phoned up a couple of his goons to have everything ready for him, whereas every other torture scenario in the Bond franchise would always involve way more time, or foresight, or knowledge about Bonds’ plans to be ready. It’s simple, but oh so effective.
