First of all I want to thank you with all your videos allowing me to repair or service my car, which is an European 1.6 Ecoboost Ford S-Max from 2013. Engine is ok no oil consumption, no coolant leak or consumption. Oil change every 10000 km (6000 miles) Mode 6 OBD scan values ok and no CEL. I have replaced all air sensors, coils, sparkplugs and high pressure pump , cam follower boost solenoid and BOV. On normal acceleration no problems to reach 6000 rpm and 150km per hour and stay at this speed with normal engine operation. I have an issue while accelerating hard or with weight in the car by having little like misfires above 3000 rpm. I'm turning in circle, if you have any ideas with your experience I'll be aware about. Thanks a lot for the time spent reading. Sorry for my bad language maybe.

In regards to the fuel pressure dropping issue. I had a problem with a faulty BOV leaking boost/faulty BOV solenoid (forge recirc) and that caused all sorts of problems like fuel pressure drops which in turn made the injectors over compensate chucking black smoke out the back, power coming in and out etc. Fitted the stock diverter valve back on and car was normal again. Collins CP5.

Interesting, I also had fuel pressure problems, boost control problems, throttle closing with CP5 Change BOV , fuel pumps actuator…. Turns out it was the software that was causing all my problems. Switched back to TRS and everything was fine again Funny things these fiestas

This is why everyone who owns a car like this needs to understand how to read a datalog, so they can tell if theres an issue. Tuners don't usually care because its not their own car. The BCS is a common issue on these cars. They fail due to excess heat, which is a huge issue in a climate like ours in Arizona. Closing the throttle is a sure sign of ECU's last resort to control over boost. The only other scenarios which are normal for less throttle being commanded is for torque management, preignition and over temp throttle scaling to limit power. I keep a spare BCS on hand because of how common failures of these are. I have relocated mine away from the hot exhaust area and used high temp. Thick walled silicone hose. This makes response time of solenoid quicker. The stock BPV is also a problem under high boost, as it usually leaks. The new GFB BPV responds much cleaner and smoother.

Shocking from the Revo dealer...Thing is so many trust these dealers to sort their problems out 🙄🙄🙄 Nice fix though Steve 👍

Fuel pressure drop could of been down to the injector DC being cranked up under overboost as it tried to richen the mixture and add fuel, this would sag the rail and not throw a code as its a protection method.

I really enjoy the way you explain what you have seen and your process for fault finding. Not taking anything away from the any of the larger performance dealers but some have a formula to hit specific power goals for various stages. When it comes to troubleshooting this requires a more intricate understanding of the specific vehicle and platform and this may not be obvious or easy to resolve without detailed knowledge as you have shown.

Nice going Steve 👍 Hopefully I don't have to do mine anytime soon, but it didn't look too bad a job changing that boost solenoid. Mine is on 91k (totally stock) and has never let me down. It's just needed general things fixing (water pump leaking, exhaust cam timing solenoid o ring failed). It hasn't gone ecoboom yet 🤣

always worth swapping them solenoid pipes to silicon, then pipes dont swell and contract internally as the pipes age
@1krista19695 ай бұрын
Thicker wall silicone hose allows vacuum signal to respond faster. The thin rubber tubing Ford uses can collapse momentarily, delaying WG response. A symptom of BCS failure is poor boost recovery between gear changes. The OE BPV responds very quickly and can make WG lag behind.
@fordyford2 жыл бұрын
If the boost issue is sorted, how was it running on the Revo 95 map? Did it "feel" like a remapped car? Keep in mind around 99% of cars getting remapped will always be set to a 98/99 octance map. What was boost and torque like in 1st and 2nd. Different to stock?
@Sparkplugsteve2 жыл бұрын
It was making stage 1 airflow on the top rpm but down low was very flat and peak boost was standard.
