+1 Flying Theston - I'm so glad you're doing these excellent NO-BS short and sweet tutorials!👍👍 Yesterday, I jumped in with both hands and feet and spent all day in the scenery editor. I've even just started a written guide based on your tuts with links to your videos. I'm currently prepping my local Thai airport VTUV to transfer over my custom 3D-modeled Thai-style terminal building, curved front elevated access road, and correct parking lot dividers, etc. that I had modeled in Solidworks for X-Plane . It's not easy as the terminal building, like most structures built here IRL, is built on top of ~1 meter thick bed of fill dirt so it doesn't get flooded during Thailand's brutal rainy season. Here are some problems I'm currently having with polygons and especially the terraform feature. 1. I can't seem to get exclusion polygons to actually exclude anything within the airport. An example is the main parking ramp here IRL is primarily for airline use but FS2020 has the ramp covered in GA aircraft. I've tried polygons excluding All and even using the Exclusion Rectangle function, both with no joy. I'm obviously doing something wrong. Any tips? 2. The terraform polygon feature is excellent but seems to be really buggy. One example is, like the terminal building, the airport windsock 'pole' also sits on top of a mound of dirt. It took 3 or 4 times editing and reediting the mound height to finally get it to display the mound correctly after loading successive flight sessions. And after each edit I was selecting Build and saving the project then also updating the Community directory after each mod. 3. Regarding terraform polygons, I found out the hard way to click Build before saving and exiting. I had worked for quite a while to get the terminal building dirt mound shaped right and with the correct slope/falloff. After saving and exiting and reloading the sim it hadn't actually saved the new heavily massaged terraform polygon at all. OUCH!!! 4. The terraform feature is also quite finicky. While trying to minimize the falloff dimension for sharper corners I accidentally created a sink hole. No amount of editing would correct it so I had to delete the polygon and start the session over again. This happened twice, once for the windsock mound and also trying to replicate a shallow pond area in front of the terminal complex. I'm guessing if the polygon corners are drawn too small then maybe the polygons cross themselves at the falloff point and it goes haywire. That's enough for now. Thanks again... keep 'em coming... and... Cheers from Thailand! 😁

the sdk is still in early phases, a bunch of stuff is either buggy or just missing. Plus asobo have said that in the future existing features in the sdk may just break and be replaced with something else... but this is all we have now to use

Thank you very much for your videos! I only have one query ... everything works in my new airport, but when I ask for fuel, the tower tells me that there is no fuel truck available. I created a parking lot and streets for vehicles, the truck appears inside the parking lot but it does not work. what will be the problem?

Hi... great tutorials and brilliant way of teaching..many thanks therefore... can you tell me, please, if for every plane and every modifed house there has to be a own folder or can i build as many planes and buildings as I want and save it all in one model library? l tried it several times and it won´t work in the sim...thank you very much for an answer.. best regards

For static decorations - when would you use scenery objects vs simobjects? On the surface - they look the same... ( ie planes, ships show up in both categories )

Okay, im already pleased, that you released this tutorial series and i thank you so much for keep on releasing, but one topic i now have to ask for! I only have the standart version of the FS2020, which is enough for me, exept one thing... The standart ver. only comes with Glasscockpit Aircrafts or without any Gps Aircrafts (exept the Robin Cap10, but this is a stunt plane...). I want the middle... just a small gps like the garmin 430 (again, the Robin Cap10 includes a g430). Now to my question: Is it possible, to add instruments in other original asobo aircrafts? Or is there a possibility to clone their original aircrafts or just edit them, like you do with liveries or single value fixes? Thank you so much for everything for now! :D

I've not looked into aircraft yet so i'm not totally sure, but I've seen some mods that modify existing planes so it may be possible

Lovin' your videos so thanks for taking the time to share. I'm having a wee issue though, when I place SimObjects into my scene, I've run the BUILD and saved the project and even got as far as seeing it once I add it to my Community folder. However when I go back in to add some more objects, quite often as I'm about to restart again to check the scene is working ok, half my objects suddenly disappear, even if I kept the original file in the community folder it no longer shows my original creation. Happens when I'm exiting the Dev Mode.

Great tutorials, I think I've bee nthrough all of them now and had some success with my local airfield! The oen thing that still baffles me is how to import custom orthographic scenery. I tried to do it as a flat 3d object from blender, but that didn't work. The airfield I'm working on has plane shapes all over the place that the sim doesn't mask, and the general ground resolution is really low.

That's going to be covered in the next tutorial!

Any experience using 3d objects generated from photos like OpenDroneMap and importing them? I'm assuming there's a blender pipeline to follow for that workflow.

Hi Flying Theston, I have been using your fantastic tutorials to add scenery etc. but every time I try to add sim objects it does not work for me, I have used previous tutorials to try fill in the gaps on this video i.e. the pre-set up element around setting up the project to place the sim objects in and the end part the saving of the project. I suspect I am missing something at the start because you have explained in detail how to save the scenery and place it into the Community folder. It would be great if you could record the full process for placing sim objects into the flight sim or if someone else can help that would be great

I have followed your fairly complicated tutorial on google maps to msfs 2020 and been able to create many scenes following your instructions. However, the sim objects procedure defeats me after many hours of trying. Am I missing something? I build, no untoward errors. I open in editor, change to simobjects. I pick windmill. I change to polygon and draw appropriate polygon and clear. Back to sim object windmill, add and place. Save shp and scn to Scene. Rebuild, no untoward errors. Shut down FS. Place package in custom. Restart FS, back to airport. No Windmill!!! Help.
@FlyingTheston4 жыл бұрын
have you tried a different simobject like a windsock? the simobject system seems buggy so there may be a problem with windmills
@brip60394 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingTheston Thanks for reply. Have just tried with windsock, no luck. Had previously tried with both cruise liners, windmill and house simobjects. None will work for me. Even placed them on EGBI to be on safe side! Time to give up I think, but thank you for great tutorials. Maybe SDK is to blame in this case.

Please revisit the porting stuff from Google Maps into MFS2020. Seems to not work for a lot of people. Including me. I tried ours and asked many without success. (The ported thing does not appear in the objects thing in MFS2020)
@FlyingTheston4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I plan to do some tutorials based around that, however if it's not working then you're best off looking into the tools that are being used. The big tutorial I did was end to end, so if I did it in there then it works, there are no steps missed. I'm guessing its not working for some people due to differences in the external tools being used.

trees you just remove by drawing a polygon around them and setting their vegetation to 0
