A good video to demonstrate the reality of proper whiteout conditions. I did my winter assessment back in 1990 on Cairngorm Plateau and the great Moss. We weren’t allowed the luxury of GPS devices, it was all paper map and compass, and a lot of pacing. We were up there 3 days, overnighting in a Bothy in the Larig (no longer there), and the Shelter stone. Thanks for sharing.

Nice video and my KZbin debut! According to the weather report that day, the air temp at the top was meant to be -7C but apparent temperature was due to be around -20C taking windchill into account. I suspect it was closer to -25. A tough day but a good day nonetheless - its just a pity that the chippie was closed afterwards!

Excellent. We had camped below Cairn lochan the night before, we were going to do Macdui the same day as you, then descend to the Corrour bothy. But we were not sure of the descent conditions off Macdui as the snow was more than forecast. Plus we had 3 days food and camp backpacks do decided to Bail. Watching your video I am glad we did. My video is on my channel. Cheers

It was hard enough with normal winter day packs let along full camping packs, you definitely did the right thing!
