Thank you for your feedback! I had to halt the project for multiple reasons and I'm pondering the options in regard to how to procede. It's still possible that I'll continue this series.

it's just me, but I like to bring the mannequin to blender from ue4, then start the blocking out.

I usually work with the mannequin when blocking out inside UE4, and then export the blockout as scale/proportions reference inside the DCC (blender). So the end result is the same :). I think it's a matter of preference. I think the main advantage of making the proportions right inside the engine is that you can instantly play-test things with the same player-character/movement/mechanics that will end up being in-game later.

Was there a reason why you started out with unreal vs just starting with blender?

Mainly because it allows me to quickly jump in and actually play the space. That's also why I start with a template project in UE4 (in this case I started with the 3rd person template).
