I honestly can't wait for this to start having this being playable. I have both a Different Dimensions deck and Water deck that I have saved sense high school and I will totally dust them off for a chance to play this! Good idea for a Yugioh Roleplaying game to have modules for each series, but that also gives me the crazy idea to have a reoccurring Iliaser type group that the party has to deal (as a side threat/mysterious faction) but each new (important) member uses a future setting's summoning method. How surprised would a group of players be when playing through a GX setting (& not to familiar with the following series) having to deal with a Turbo duelist that uses an (effectively) invincible Number Card, but the group figures out they just need to get the card to use up its overlay units (effectively Legendary Actions) or damage the mysterious duelist's vehicle enough to get them to retreat.

@@commonviewer2488 oh like this time traveling group pulls a Mera and Towa from XenoVerse and makes antagonist stronger by giving them one or two more powerful cards that they shouldn't have. Like giving Pegasus the new Relinquished support, or even something minor like giving Rex or Weevil new 'modern' Ace Monsters, but they end up failing to fully understand their effects and end up loosing anyways. With these (comparatively) broken cards retuning to their original time once the duelist loses with them, so the party can't use/steal these op cards

Pretty sure Dueling Book has most of the interactive mechanics you need, minus addition of brand new cards to a player’s deck mid-duel a la Shining Draw, or making completely new cards to play with, if you're planning on getting *really* crazy. If all else fails, Tabletop Simulator is a great fallback for those who own/can run it. Anyways, good to hear you're back, dude! I've already said I'm down for the community playtests here and on Twitter, so I can't wait to hear more. That said, take your time, man; good things are ready when their ready, and your own life takes priority. Looking forward to whatever you have in store, nonetheless!

This is a really cool idea and I'm excited to see where it goes. I just have a quick question if you've got an answer. When it comes to deck building, are there going to be any imposed limits or potential rules options for it? Or can people just make whatever deck they want with any card they want? I'm just wondering if you'll have different rules for different deck building limitations, I suppose. My first idea was basically to give the players a flat amount of money to 'spend' on something like TCGplayer to build whatever deck they can afford with that flat amount. Similar to MBT's broke boy Yugioh. Are there any plans for rules/systems like that?

I love ttrpgs~ I feel like there are some simulators that you could still use some or most of the 'cheats' for if you wanted to play with friends online, though, as you said, most of them wouldn't work since they have the rules hardcoded in. My biggest question is how balancing decks will work outside of the DM considering how fast Yugioh has gotten as of now and more like the anime with a back and forth. This sounds like the hardest part to do.

So my preferred priority order: 1) Deck profile videos. At least a few, just so you hopefully can get some monthly content. 2) Mass Effect 3) Yugioh GX season rewrite & the Egyptian Gods/Beasts video. 4) Dragon Ball Super 5) Star Wars 6) Doctor Who 7) MCU phase 4. #1 is what I want most, though I don’t need a dozen in a row. Variety is the spice of life. For the Yugioh GX stuff, PLEASE go easy on yourself when it comes to including art and animations. You do excellent work, but I love your scripts most of all. Your character writing too. I don’t want you to exhaust yourself or re-kill your Yugioh passion by slaving away at another perfect Yugioh project. If you want my advice, do the minimum on visuals and focus on your script, that’s the meat and soul of your videos. Right?

One way people could run this game is through methods like Tabletop Simulator if all the players possess it (and might be a good way to also playtest it). In that way having a mod with pre built decks, a already defined card pool (with potentially a card adder addon for those who want a little bit more added for whatever reason) with a written banlist, rulebook, and heck maybe some little custom figurines already placed and available to start right away with. Plus thanks to the free play nature of tabletop simulator, it will be easier to manipulate the game state for in game shenanigans. And for 'era' expansions could potentially be entirely different mods so players can pick whichever era they want and it would be easier to organize the banlist and card pool for each one like that. I think it's an idea worth looking into at the very least.

I'm looking for the game to have a lot of home rules and cheating mechanics in the card game part. Leading challenge of RPG games is pacing of combat, which is near universally atrocious. If every player is meant to have their own duel in a combat scenario, that would be ages. Using rush card is an option, but it still doesn't add that much. A big help would be a system for team duels (i.e. 3 players vs Boss or a group of evil duelists), if you have any ideas.

I think it might have been better to abstract more of the game instead of straight up playing a card game. Part of role playing is that a character's gameplay style and cards is not the same access as player's. I also am pretty unsure of how necessary things like HP or insanity really are for a card game story.

So I'm really curious what you would do for deck limitations. Probably play in traditional format with either A. Give player's 24 packs of their choosing to pull from (these are interchangeable) B. Give player's a distribution of rarities, Probably use Master Duel to decide these. Like as many Normals as you want, with 8 Rare Slots, 4 Super Rare Slots, and 2 Ultra Rare Slots when building your starting deck. And maybe limit the Extra Deck to 5 cards at first and add a higher limit as the player's level up For additional cards Probably have card shops in different towns that specialize in a few particular packs, and maybe the option to add: 1 UR or 2 SRs or 4 Rs of their choice when they level up to build their decks stronger The main idea is to add diversity to decks and make sure players don't have full power decks at the start of the campaign

After a little deck building, I was building Armed Dragons through my Idea B style, I have decided that: 1. Adding ANY card to your card pool on level up is probably broken, as you'll have just a constructed deck by the end of the campaign, and i think part of the fun would be stringing decks together through what you have collected. 2. Probably shouldn't let more than 3 copies of a card total in the Party's collective decks to prevent them all from running the same staples in Idea B's deck building 3. Spirit Ryu is Hilarious in Armed Dragons

So I built Synchro Eldlich and it's probably a really good deck for the style of deck building, decided on 2 more suggestions 1. Have skill cards for the more complete rules as sort of rewards for character feats. Especially ones that promote creativity in deck building. For example make one that makes level 5 or higher Normal monsters more playable, simply so player's have their own Ace monsters akin to the days on Dark Magician, Red-Eyes, or Blue-eyes 2. There are N rarity Xtra Deck monsters for my deck build style which made Fusions instantly less viable. My proposal is if a Fusion monster has specific materials that you run you can add it to your list for free, this may need flushed out more

You could take preexisting concepts to make original storylines! Virtual World, Spirit World, Ancient Civilizations (Egypt, Rome, Atlantis) could be used for something wholly new. Especially if the Duel Master approves homebrew cards (be reasonable).

By the way, you SHOULD be able to use the mechanics in the more complex version online by relying on the Tabletop Simulator game on steam. It mimics real Tabletop play, at the expense of not having automatic effects. It can be just as exciting if played out correctly.
