Sinhala and Dhivehi are both descendants of Elu Prakrit and sound quite similar to each other.

@@Kevinpaul9717 No you are wrong.Sinhalese is so much difficult than dhivehi.They use different words to show their expressions in different situations.But dhivehi is not like that.

@@xinister4541 But I feel the opposite, bro and this is because Sinhala has many Tamil loan words in it like Akka, Ilaka, Kadale, Ambattaya, Aiya etc. I'm fluent in Tamil, so it's easier compared to Dhivehi which seems complicated.

@@Kevinpaul9717 that’s because 60% of Sinhalese words are rooted in old Tamil. Some even say Elu was a Prakrit language mixed with Dravidian and Pali.
