Someone coming to Adobe's rescue! Their learning center for Substance is weak and gaudy. I look forward to working with you through these lessons. However, I must say I find the background noise distracting. Adobe's aborting the 3D feature from photoshop must have been corporate driven. Then to "Project Felix," to Dimension and now Substance. Not just substance but then making four application for a Substance Suite? Modeling, Stager, Materials and Painter. I am confused. What is the deal with Adobe? That is if you are free to enlighten us.

For Adobe adopting 3D, it's been an evolution. Adobe started playing around with 3D applications like Project Felix and Dimension. Then, Adobe decided to invest in 3D pretty heavily by purchasing the Substance 3D packages from Allegorithmic which included Painter, Designer, and Sampler. These have been industry standard software for characters and environments in games, animation, and film. They then beefed up Dimension into a new (yet similar) software called Stager. So those 4 software packages made up the 3D collection. Then, last year, they released Modeler for creating 3D models from scratch, increasing the number to 5 software packages. It definitely can be confusing but the key is that all of these software make up one workflow. It's just that each software package is designed with unique UI and tools for specific purposes as opposed to something like Maya or Blender which has everything inside one massive bit of software. It's a different approach but I like having the more simplied UI better. Hope that helps clear up some of the questions!
