013 - The Christ Hymn in Philippians 2 | Biblical Unitarian Podcast

What are we to make of the controversial passage of Phil. 2:5-11? This episode attempts to explain the nuances of the passage by highlighting Paul's allusions to Adam, Isaiah's Suffering Servant, and even to Emperor Nero. Furthermore, we show that the Philippians passage is actually an ethical argument for Christians to live in humility and obedience to God, just as Christ demonstrated during his earthly life.

"Being born" in verse 7 is translated as "received" in most cases, not being born..

According to the Strong's Greek Concordance on Bible Hub, this word is translated as "received" 48 times, and 63 times it is translated as "receive". It's probably been mistranslated.@@youngknowledgeseeker

@@Roz-zi1ye that helps, because "being born" makes it seem like it was in his birth that he took the form a servant, giving credence to talking about shedding glory in heaven as God or some Angel by becoming human and being born.

Yeah, I am sometimes shocked at how biased the translations are. Very grateful for Strong's Concordance, which helps to uncover what a lot if the difficult verses actually say in the original language. @youngknowledgeseeker
