Somehow this movie made me realize that big changes could happen to small things. Like how Akari didn't give Takaki her letter, then it left me realizing that if she did give him the letter, they would end up happy. I realized that. Well, not only that, but even though this is anime, and the characters aren't real, they managed to touch us very well. They managed to relate to us. And by how they did that, it made us realize that they're somehow human, too, but were just drawn on paper. (Just my opinion.)

This is a very emotional song that everyone should think back about their past life. If something sad has happend in your love life you should move on. Like how this movie tells us. This movie tells us to move on, and that life isn't fair. BUT there will always have that one person in your life that you cannot forget.

i had so much time to get close to him, but i didnt take it. i spent so much time imagining how we would come together somehow and talk to each other everyday since were usually alone. but i rarely thought of starting to speak to him. weve spoken a few times, but i was just lucky there. i still remember where and when we first spoke to each other -- nothing too personal, just about our class. there was a poster behind me so he went up to read it, but he remained close to me. the second time was in the same class. he was messing up so i decided to help him. after that we glanced at each other even more. not even the cute kind (where person A stares at person B and person B looks back and person A smiles etc.). we just looked away. id also see him hang around where i did a lot. i would sit on a bench and he would sit on the bench across. we wouldnt speak nor look at each other. sometimes i would come into his first period cause of my teacher, who allows me to go to some classes if i feel like it. i would see his head tilt my way while i would listen to the teacher lecturing. i remember our arms brushing once and i got to see his red beaded bracelet up close, or sewn, that he wore everyday. i always wondered why he wore that and i wondered why he wore gray and i wondered why he started wearing green when i wore an old green jacket and i wondered why he smiled at me that one time when i looked back at him before going into my sixth period class and i wondered why he was waiting outside my sixth period that same day and i wondered why i just rushed past him and i didnt look back. i wonder why i couldnt initiate a conversation with him when i was and always have been in the position to do so. i wonder why, on the last day of school, i saw him alone with everyone around him with their friends and family and i didnt go up to him to say something, anything, before we moved on. i wonder how hes doing now.

For a long while now, this piece always hurt. I know I was the one who ended our relationship. But I was young and had so many aspirations, and I couldn’t take you with me, I wish I could have. It hurt to leave you. For years it hurt to think about you. You were the one, I cared so deeply for you. You understandably cut me away from your life. I hurt you. I know I did. And it still hurts me to this day 14 years later. We moved on, but I still wonder…. How you are, how your family are, what you are doing…. What if…. But now when I listen to this music, I think back to the happy memories and how they made me feel. And it doesn’t hurt so much anymore. You will be my beautiful distant memory.

This song makes me sob because it reminds me of the guy I've been in love with for six years, ever since we met during our first year of high school. He is my Takaki and I am his Akari. We became close friends and started to really like each other, but we went to different colleges and hardly speak anymore. Tomorrow morning, we're finally going to meet again at a park near my house, and I want to tell him how I feel. I just know that this song is going to be playing in my head the entire time.

Watched this in middle school, probably, or freshman year. So beautiful. I remember thinking how this movie and music was so good even though it was not Miyazaki, since that was the only anime movie person I knew at the time. Him not being as well known and different made me remember him. Also, the impact the movie had on me even at a young age for its theme was something I remembered. Who knew he would make a world phenomenon in 2016 where he would finally get the (more) recognition he deserves w/his work, even though he doesn’t want it?

This is also one of the saddest things that most people go through, yet nobody ever talks about. Almost everybody eventually drifts away from their high school friends in time after graduation. It is a fact that everybody learns eventually. Unless you have a resolve to marry someone from high school, you probably will never see any of your friends from high school ever again after graduation. The saddest part is when you notice it happening, but you can't do anything about it.
