U just helped A LOT we have the same Zetec engine tho mine is Ford Mondeo but it worked cuz it's almost all the same...I didn't know how to flush so I searched it up and good thing I did since I'm broke I learned a lot of how to take care of my car by myself 😂😂

Thanks so much. I watched it then did it. 45 minutes after watching this, my Focus had fresh coolant. :-)

I just needed to know where to put my antifreeze and your video helped me do just that. Thank you!

The plastic pipe that needed to be replaced is called a coolant crossover or a heater pipe line, depending on what site your on or who you talk to. Carparts.com for example uses the latter term.

Nice Focus…. I have the same engine and same year of Focus. Mine is a black zx3 but under the hood, same car. Looks good, man. Thanx for the instructional vid ~ kudos.

for bleeding you can jack up the passenger front side so it's cocked at an angle thus making the reservoir the highest point so that air bubbles will float up out of it.

I had the same crack in the plastic tube and just flushed my system. FYI - after loosening the drain plug go loosen one of the hoses connected to the plastic tube. A lot more coolant will drain.

Nice vid :) Regarding bubbles in system, there is usually bleeding point on every car. On most of the cars it is on large tube that comes from TOP (not bottom) of the radiator into the engine (trough thermostat). Bleeding point is usually on top of that tube and you just need to open it while engine is running. Let it bleed for a while (put a bucket below it) and add coolant to maintain proper level. Also, put water before flushing fluid, otherwise you can damage plastic tubes.

You are awesome for doin this I am a chick and You really taught me how to do this .. THanx!

FYI: The proper procedure for adding coolant with this engine is to turn the heater on high, remove the upper heater core hose from the engine, and add coolant to the heater core with a funnel stuck in the heater core hose. Keep adding coolant until it comes out of the fitting on the engine, then reinstall the line. The rest of it is as described here.

great! i have a '04 focus with the zetec engine, virtually the same. this is way easier than what the haynes service book recommends, since you don't have to remove the thermostat (a big pain in the butt, due to its location behind some immovable pipes) OR flush the thing out with a garden hose, also a pain since you have to remove the top radiator hose and let the clean water drain from it. so, i'm doing it your way, thanks

U have to get down your car of those ramps to get all the coolant out, actually u can to raise the rear axle with a hydraulic jack or ramps and so will drain all the coolant. ;)

does any one know might be a silly question but the two hoses on the top of the water bottle thing does it matter what one they connect to on the bottle had to replace it and can't remember what way they went..
@overzealousarborist12 жыл бұрын
or yank off the lower rad hose and push it down to allow the coolant to flow down.

There is no radiator cap on these.
@j2rockefell7 жыл бұрын
Correct. The "radiator cap" on these vehicles IS the overflow tank itself. The overflow tank cap functions as a radiator cap and blow-off valve for the radiator. Unlike most vehicles, the overflow tank is pressurized to a set amount (15 PSI if I remember correctly... not 100% sure) in this system.

This car does not have a radiator cap. The reservoir serves as the cap, and thus the reservoir cap is the radiator cap.

First off, you should have flushed it. Secondly, draining the radiator just drains the radiator....you still have the cooling jackets and heater core to flush out which is how the dealer does it. Then you have to do what is called I call, berping the system. That get all the air pockets out which you create when you drain and fill the reseviour and radiator. One which causes the over heating process....unless properly berpped. Oops
