I don't dismiss moshing, but ignorant comments from people. a) different countries = different behaviours and tempers. See japanese audiences. They sit and listen very nicely and then applause between the songs. Be this good or bad. Some americans here show once again their ignorance about the outside world. And b) this is a festival where lots of people watch lots of bands. Most of them see the Melvins for the first time, hence the calm, maybe dazzled but most of all respectful reaction.

Your comment is quite ignorant, ironically. Making generalizations about people commenting on this video, as if they're just all going to inevitably be Americans. Then making another generalization about the temperaments of Japanese people at concerts or festivals is another ignorant finding and I would suggest you visit Japan sometime and go to diverse events. They definitely aren't all sitting, clapping, listening nicely. People are more than their country's culture, there are plenty of other sub-cultures inside. There are wild Japanese crowds and there are plenty that do a lot of dancing. I know because I've seen it. I'm an American by the way, thanks for being ignorant about my country as well and thinking that nobody here knows anything about the rest of the world. 👋Maybe watch something like 'Lightning Bolt - Dead Cowboy' live at the Taicoclub festival in Japan and you'll see for yourself, as an example, that maybe there are lots of Japanese people that don't fit inside your box.

@TheBeNi666 At first someone told me it was something to do with Dale having early arthritic problems so a 2nd drummer was needed to pitch in and help. I've yet to hear confirmation on that, but then actually it was just 'cos they thought it would a cool idea to try it out and see what happened.

@uiruu yeah, this and the ignorance towards anything non-american while being convinced that the US are the shining leader of the free world, unaware of its crimes and how much it lies in shambles politically and socially. There isn't even a basic right for Heatlh Insurance for everyone, because some people take it as the first step towards communism. Ridiculously unsettling. no need to get judgmental. In my eyes people going crazy during a concert means their having a good time. Sometimes certain folks act like jerks, but that's their problem. To me this 'listening crowed', doesn't look like their having fun, but whateve, maybe they are. It's something that they'd been wanting to do for a while, so they gave it a whirl for a few records/tours. One often weaves in & out of what the other is doing, although the footage/song above isn't the best example of that. Listen to the records that they made w/ the two-drummer lineup & watch some full gigs from that era, & you'll get it. I still like them more w/ just Dale on drums, though: 'Gluey Porch Treatments', 'Ozma', 'Bullhead', 'Eggnog', 'Lysol'. That's where it's at!
